Despite setting permission viewing is open to google

We have a private section of our classifieds system. It's been in place for years. Now all of the sudden it's open to the public. Very bizarre. They can't post but they can view it. I've reset the permissions and it doesn't seem to make a difference it's as if the changes I make are not being recorded and are ignored by the system. Otherwise it's working well.

If you set that guests can not view the classifieds ads in every category all you should see is a pretty empty page ;)

Not something I can comment on without a url to your install.

Just making sure you have seen our reply as I have not seen any information posted yet on this.

I looked things up and if this is the site your talking about from what I see you have things set so that guests can view everything

Hi Chuck for some reason my subscription to this thread wasn't working.

I have set it that way.

Our install is here.

Main Index - DWF Classifieds

Specifically...

Assistants - DWF Classifieds

That category should be not be public.

Here are my settings. All the checked groups are paid groups that require a login.

I would have to specifically see how you have things setup because from what I am seeing you are allowing guests to view that category and ads.

Your integrating with vbulletin and the guests group would be the very first group in the usergroups list. If that one is unchecked from viewing permissions under edit categories for the category your talking about then that category would not be shown

You can send us an admin login to look at your setup to see you have it set correctly.

The only way to get the result you have is to not be setting permissions correctly.

This comes right from the showcat.php file

Code:

Content visible to verified customers only.
What that code tells me is you have set permissions so that guests usergroup 1 can view that category.
