Exclamation Subscriptions vs. Notifications

Chuck,
Can you please explain what Subscriptions are?

When I click Subscriptions along the top Nav I go to a page that tells me I have no subscriptions.

When I click Profile
Then I click "Statistics"
Then at the bottom of the listing is "Category Subscriptions"

Huh? Why are "Category Subscriptions" listed under Statistics in my Profile?

If I click "List Subscriptions" under my Profile I get that Subscriptions page again telling me I have no subscriptions.

When my users asked me "How do I unsubscribe to a category, I don't see it in my Subscriptions" I see why they are so confused because you use Subscriptions to mean 2 different things evidently. Can you please clear this up for me and everyone else.

I am attaching a screen capture to provide more detail/clarity about what I mean and why it is so confusing.

Category or Product Subscriptions are NOTIFICATIONS there are both types. You basically ad them to notifications to be notified when new comments ads are added.

Subscriptions are paid subscriptions you would setup for higher access to more categories permissions etc much like vbulletin subscription system.

There notifications are under tab watch list I beleive is called WATCH LIST.

Ok, then I could see where users would get confused between Category Subscriptions and Paid Subscriptions (does anyone use that feature?) to some site's classifieds section. Any chance you could rename those somehow in the menus, etc. to make it more clear what they are? For example in the Profile section have a link for "Notifications" or something like that where the categories or items you've asked for notifications for will show up and you can enable/disable them. It's just very confusing for my members and I'm sure members of other sites the way it is set up now and how the labelling is done. Thanks for the explanation, hopefully this topic will help others with the same question.

The notifications are listed as WATCH LIST if I look at my site and a users classifieds profile.

There is a definate difference in the wording and the operation of the functions.

On my site Watch List does NOT give a list of category subscriptions/notifications, to get that I have to go to Profile - Statistics. Feel free to check it on my site for yourself to see.

Hi Chuck,

I don't understand what "Subscriptions" are made for too. Can you have an example of this features ? I've see in Admin Panel that I can add/delete a subscriptions and a list of subscribers.

Thanks

subscriptions in our admin would be quite the same as in vbulletin subscriptions. You charge a price to elevate a user into another usergroup that has higher viewing posting permissions etc.
