| Search box not working in Category view
Hi there
My Search box in the Category view is not working. For example, please see the URL below. If you search for "Boss", it just show everything in the Pedals/Effects category and not filter out the "Boss" items. Pedals and Effects - Classifieds |

Looks to me like your using the latest code.
For instance your templates is not current.
Download 4.1 and upload everything that should help to ensure you have all the proper files
for instance your cathead template is not correct in this regard.

No problem. Always a good thing to make sure your using the latest files. You miss one and it can play havoc with things as you see.

Thought I'd had my problem here as it's exactly the same.
Never noticed it before, but I've had several members report the "category search" isn't working on same current version and the files checked and are current.
Works fine from PPClassifieds "home" search ...
Is there a particular template I can look at and patch?
Thanks ..
Regards,
Doug

cathead template would be the template and if you download and upload that make sure to reupload showcat templates as well.
I really do not tell people how to do things piecemeal as if all the new files are uploaded then these types of issues do not happen. Thats why you see me always saying upload all files except install and config files.

Ok, all files (templates) are current and it still doesn't seem to do the category "search" properly when executed from the small search box located in top right corner. It works fine when any "search" is done from the the Home page of PPClassifieds.
Note: Search within a category works fine when you use the "Search" option selectable from the NavBar (advanced search options), so the problem ONLY exists for us when someone uses the small search box located in top right corner and does so while viewing a category.
By the way ... Happy New Year ..
Regards,
Doug

Are you sure you have loaded all the templates every folder?
Site links also work as I could most definately show you your template is old.

I then had to go through hours of modding to restore the changes you had helped us with to provide better integration with vb4 and it's profiles, PM's etc.
I really don't want to do that again, so I've just removed
include( "{$Globals['TMPL_PATH']}/searchbox.tmpl" );
from cathead.tmpl so members now either use the box search from main home screen or the "Search" function from the Navbar, the latter two of which work fine.
Thanks for your help ..
Regards,
Doug

Yes I know you have modified things which is why I point out thats most likely the culprit
You can look at the gentlemans link to his site above
The issue I beleive if I remember correctly is the old cathead template has a form element going to showcat.php which it should not because everything goes to search.php which is why all new templates must be used. You can reapply modifications after the fact.

Can you tell me which form element going to showcat.php in my template below needs to be deleted to fix it?

Doug
Your very template shows me your using old outdated templates. Have you tried grabbing the templates from the actual downloaded code?
The ones you will need to replace in the templates vb4enhanced directory are
cathead
membhead
searchbox
showcat
showcat1
showcat2
showcat3
showcat4
showmembers
