Registered Users can't "Place An Ad"

About 2 months back, a five year old installation of Classifieds got hosed and so I just renewed access and made a clean installation of the Classifieds to start with a clean sheet of paper.

This is integrated with VB 3.8X

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
It was bought to my attention that the Registered Members couldn't upload the ads because they can't see the link "Place An Ad". Every other class of membership can place ads -- just not the largest group -- so it is not a cookie issue or awaiting confirmation issue.

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Main Index - Dave's List - Free Classified Ads!
Old Hippie's Forums - Powered by vBulletin

I create a thrown down registered user in VB and I can't see the link to Place the ad when logged in as that user. I created a user group in Vb exactly like Registered Users called "Free Membership" -- and change the throw-down member to that group (along with uploading Usergroups and making it the same as Registered Users in PPCC) and can see the link when logged in as the throw down user. I change the user back to Registered User from Free Membership and can't see the link to post an ad. It is something very obviously related to the Registered User category.

I've changed options for registered users in PPCC every which way possible and save it (hoping it would correct any problem in the database) but that doesn't work.

Something somewhere is filtering Registered users only (of about 10 groups) from having the Place An Ad link presented to them.

I didn't have this issue in my previous installation of PPCC, nor do I have the issue on another site that is also using the VB user database.

HELP

Your usergroups are wrong. You installed it as a standalone and then reinstalled it to integrate with vb.

you need to delete the pp_usergroups table and reinstall with vb.

OK -- that wasn't the way I installed it -- but I'll take your word that I need to delete and reinstall.

I don't have a lot of experience at this, so let me clarify what I need to do

1. I use phpmyadmin to delete the pp_usergroups table in the database I set up for the classifieds

2. I go into the admin usergroups portion of the classifieds and click the link that say "Refresh Usergroups from your forum software"

If the above is correct -- wouldn't I have problems accessing my admincp in the Photos Post Classifieds if I were to first delete the table?

I can follow clear instructions -- but I am not a programmer by trade and don't want to hose my application.

Well no thats not really the way to do it. I meant reinstall.

There are a couple things you could do otherwise but I gave you the easiest.

1. delete the usergroups table and reinstall the product

2. delete all usergroups except groupid 6 and resync usergroups in admin panel

3. rename the usergroups to the correct names based on vb and set permissions accordingly

see your attachment above shows that your groups 1-5 are photopost standalone usergroups so for instance your trying to set upload permissions for group 4 which you think is registered users but in vb its group 2 so coppa in your attachment should have upload permissions to be right.

this is why I said your groups arent right and you need to redo things. You can safely do either one of the three above whichever you think is easiest for you. Any of those 3 actions above can correct the issue. Its just all about the proper named groups being in the proper order.
