Check here to watermark unwatermarked files? I don't think this is working? I've run it twice and exisiting pics are not watermarked when it's done. If I create a new ad and upload a pic, it is watermarked properly. Quote:

Have you set category permissions for watermarking as well as the main watermark settings? |
Main has been set and do you mean set this line under categories? "These checked usergroups will have their products stamped with your overlay product." Regards, Doug |
Yes that is what I mean. Are new images as well being watermarked. |
Yes, those fields are checked in the "edit categories" screen. Yes, if I create a new ad and upload new pics, those pics appear watermarked. Chuck, you have all the login information and "admin" access for our upcoming migration from devforum. Please feel free to use that to login and check if we're doing something wrong or if in fact it's a bug. The items and devforum are all "dummies" for testing purposes, so there's no live data to cause problems with. Thanks .. :) Regards Doug |
oh okay yeah I will check things out then you sent phpmyadmin access as well? |
Have done a LOT more testing and there's definitely something working strangely here... :D Even if I add a new pic to an existing ad, or change one that is already there, watermarks don't get added. The add watermarks utility doesn't put a watermark on any of those above as well. Not sure what the pattern is yet, but a branc new site, it works if people are uploading new ads with new pics, so we haven't had the need to use this capability. Regards, Doug |
I will glad look at your watermark settings but seems to work for me look at the test ad I posted |
Thanks Chuck ... :) The problem is not with the initial upload of pics associtaed with a new ad. It exists in two places ... 1. The add watermarks function (checkbox) under utilities doesn't seem to add the watermark to any existing pic in the classifieds that doesn't have a watermark, as its description says it should do. 2. If you have an ad you've already created and you either change a pic, or add a new pic, the changed or new pic does not get watermarked. Regards, Doug |
1. well are these images you have replaced in ads already uploaded with a watermark? That feature only works if watermark field in the products table is no. Definately need more info here on exact nature of this because whats in the database is what matters. If the watermark field is yes an image would never be watermarked. 2. that is true because when you upload an image it is watermarked and the watermark field in the products table is set to yes. You can not rewatermark an image so thats why it would not be rewatermarked. |

2 Attachment(s) Ok, here's my settings.... :) So, one of these should actually be set to NO for watermarking to work? Also, it says that watermark.php needs to be edited, but I had a look at that file and I don't see what needs to be edited? Regards, Doug |
all your ads I see have a watermark what I am saying is if you upload an ad and it is watermarked you can not replace the image later and expect to try and use the admin tool to rewatermark an image because the ad itself is already marked as watermarked. I personally prefer using on the fly watermarks have you tried those? |

Note my pics in previous post ... I have that option turned on, but it says it says that watermark.php needs to be edited, but I had a look at that file and I don't see what needs to be edited? Can you help with understanding what that means and just how I go about using "on the fly watermarks"? Thanks Chuck .. :) Regards, Doug |
yes correct your site is using on the fly watermark now. |
So I don't need to change anything in watermark.php for this to work? Should I turn OFF any of the settings as shown in the earlier pics posted in this thread, or do "on the fly" and the regular watermark settings work together? Finally, sorry to be so thick, but what exactly does "on the fly" watermarking mean and how does it differ from the other technique? Thanks for your help .. :) Regards, Doug |
I made sure permanent watermarking was off Your on the fly watermarking simply overlays the watermark over the image it does not specifically destroy the image like a permanent watermark. |
Thank you Chuck .. :) Appreciate you making sure that's the way it works ... Regards, Doug |
No problem enjoy your weekend buddy |
