| IE 7 Preview Issue in Classifieds Beta
Chuck -
First, I apologize for posting this in the Bug Section - I am on a different computer and do not have customer #/Password with me to get to Beta Forum.
I have Classifieds 4 Beta running and it was just pointed out to me that in FireFox 3.x when you click on an image you get a medium sized preview popup, and can click on supersize to get full image - but in IE 7 you cannot get this popup preview. If you click on the thumbnail itself it curser moves a little and nothing happens. I have a couple different members point this out to me, and I tried it and am getting the same thing. Some screwed up setting on my part? IE 7 issue? (Would not be a surprise)

In your js directory of classifieds in the enlargeit. js file make sure the line I note is exactly as I have here Code: Content visible to verified customers only.

Actually it was: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
But changing it made no difference - still worked in FireFox and not in IE.

I think so... go here: My 1969 Mustang Convertible - IHMSA Trading Post
The first two images are larger. In FF you can click on the thumnail and a popup appears - like a 300px sized image in like a lightbox frame (but not with the whole screen dark like in lightbox). If you click on Supersize you get the full image. In IE7 (tried on VIsta 64 and XP 32) you click on the thumbnail image and there is no popup. The little hand cursor moves a little and nothing happens.
This may very well be some IE setting - if it is and you know which one, let me know and I will pass along to my users.

I thought it may have something to do with the fact that I was running beta 3. I deleted all of the files (not the database tables) and installed the final release of Classified 4. Now many more issues. Under Product Options I just get icons - no text unless you hover. Ads show up in Most Recent, but when you browse cats they do now. Goign to blow away everything - DB and all - and try this from scratch.

1. You see icons because thats what your choosing. You can as always set to use text links by turning off in admin show ad options the option to use images in menu.
2. You would have to show what you mean because the site I showed you a link is running the GOLD.

OK, Classifieds has been rebuilt. Complete DB wipe, complete file system wipe, re-downloaded software, re-installed, manually recreated everything. Same problem. Now pop-up of the images in IE7. Any ideas where I can start looking to figure it out? I thought maybe my images were too big - so I stuck your image from the test site there, didnt help. Killed the SEO options, killed the leech protection option...tried to kill htaccess, then restore it...nothing works. 1969 Mustang 428SCJ - PhotoPost Classifieds |

Have you tried in the enlargeit. js file making that path to the images a full url like so
var enl_gifpath='http://www.ihmsa.net/ppc/ js/'; // path to graphics
what kills me is no one has ever reported this ever. worked for me provided I have / js/ as the path to the images
If that does not work maybe I can find time to find some kind of retrograde back to before this but have to dig up older files for that

I just reported this in my other bug thread, I have the same issue, doesn't work in IE. I'll try your suggested full path in the . js file and see if that works, but as I reported in the other topic post it works fine in REviewPost for me, just doesn't work in the Classifieds, I figured you'd use the same code for both but obviously not. |

Chuck,
As a note, I did a file comparison between the Classifieds version and the ReviewPost version
Classifieds 4.0 was: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
ReviewPost is: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
So I went ahead and copied the ReviewPost over the Classifieds one to basically add the "." and it still didn't make any difference.

I've reviewed in FireFox vs. IE and here is what I see:
In ReviewPost - I see the magnifying glass when I hover over an image and clicking on the image works, it expands up in the lightbox. This is true for both FireFox and IE.
In the Classifieds - I do NOT see the magnifying glass when I hover over the image in either IE or Firefox. However, when I click on the image in Firefox it still expands up in the lightbox, but when I click on the image in IE nothing happens.
Therefore, I think the issue is somewhere else in the code, where the code is at that creates the magnifying glass when you hover over an image seems to be where the fault is since the magnifying glass doesn't show up in either IE or FireFox.
Hope that helps you troubleshoot this one!

Ok Chuck I found a fix, and in my case it is as you suggested, I changed the URL to be Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
And now with the full path it works. Not sure why ReviewPost works though and Classifieds doesn't without the full URL. ???

yeah hard to combat all the little issues with using other peoples code. Not like I can automatically add in site info to external files like that.

It is as if in the Classifieds it doesn't know what the leading path of the website is, like it isn't looking at some variable, or maybe isn't looking at the right variable for the PATH to the Classifieds, whereas with ReviewPost it looks at the right variable. That's my guess as to why it isn't working in one but does without the other. Obviously this is a temp work-around as any upgrade in the future will likely overwrite this.

The code should be the same in both / js/ I think is right or you could try ./ js/ or of course always putting in your full domain
The point being there is nothing I can do on this issue automatically this is part of the actual program setup if you have issues you edit the js.
