Ok Chuck, that seemed to work, no error that time when I placed the bid. But what did I actually do by commenting out that line, and will it affect the functionality?

Well that just tells me you have a problem with user emails or the mail function but what I dont get is why its only on the first bid not all.

One thing to check.

1. make sure your admin email is filled out in global options.

You can send server login info and I can go in and do more testing but its not a code issue I would think. either an empty setting or some weird server email thing but I can print out and stop things mid stream to try and find out what the server does not like. we know at least right now its email related

I will do some looking around. I did notice that when the classifieds sends out notices, rather than using the regular email address, it uses some weird email address like this; museumcurator@p3slh194.shr.phx3.secureserver.net instead of my own email address in the global options which is thetradingcardmuseum@yahoo.com . I am not even sure where it is getting that from to use to begin with. As far as I know my email is correct in all places, but I will indeed check around.

As far as what i commented out, will that affect the functionality of things?

Thanks again for all your help Chuck!

It will affect the sending of the high bidder email the user who was outbid will get

You can send me ftp info to do some debugging and see if I can find anything out

I just sent the ftp login name and password via the contact form. I really appreciate any help you can provide, much less the help you already have!

I will do some more digging myself. I wonder maybe if there is a length to the email addresses?

I also changed the admin email to Curator@TheTradingCardMuseum.com which is also just as valid as the yahoo one, it just forward all mail to the yahoo account.

Anyway, please let me know if you find anything, and I will as well. It would definately be nice to have all functions, including the outbid notice, working as they should

Thanks again
Joey

Chuck,
Do you need admin access to my classifieds so that you can go into the control panel and look around?

Chuck,
Any idea off hand why SOME messages sent from the classifieds are using the email address museumcurator@p3slh194.shr.phx3.secureserver.net instead of the mail address in the global options?

For example, ads that I delete are using this weird email address, but uploaded ads send me confirmation to the correct one.

whats your vb email set to?

basically it all depends on the email but email the send from should be your global option setting. There I beleive might be times when emails are send from user to user but we get those emails from your vb profile settings

I really cant say unless its some weird server thing. we all know you seem to have found one of those things.

Currently, my vb and my classified admin emails are identical. they were using TheTradingCardMuseum@Yahoo.com but have been both set to Curator@TheTradingCardMuseum.com.

email sent to Curator@TheTradingCardMuseum.com forwards to TheTradingCardMuseum@Yahoo.com so basically they are interchangeable.

But the classifieds sometimes sends email from the Curator@TheTradingCardMuseum.com and sometimes it sends messages from that weird email address above. I dont get the logic.

Chuck,
you can change the email address in your profile to the correct one (yours) if you like so that you will get any notices.

well you would have to track down which emails are the ones using weird emails so I can comment. To my knowledge everything should be using the email you have things set to.

Sorry Chuck, still not getting what you mean? Currently I still have the line of code commented out that you suggested, is that what you are talking about?

I am still not sure what the problem really is as I don't think it was resolved, just temporarily we commented out that line that sends email to the bidder when outbid. Were you able to see anything strange when you logged into my system with the admin login?

Thanks
Joey

Oh, ok, I see the commenting is now gone, so what did you find?

I see some what appears to be new code highlighted in green when I look in dreamweaver, is that what you put in there?
