Auctions Problems

Howdy
I'm getting multiple complaints that even though a Auction is weeks old and finished people are still getting emails. One member was complaining they were getting emails every ten minutes(yes the cron job is set up).
One guys Auctions have even returned by itself after weeks of being sold.
Any help would be appreciate as im at wits end with this and I'm afraid if I cant get this sorted Im going to have to remove the classifieds software, ive already deleted all auction for now.

cheers in advance.

First I would suggest your running 2.61 if your not. However this would appear to me that their is an issue with the way your cron on your server as its not processing the cron correctly. You might want to contact your host to find out the specific requirements on how to setup a cron. Maybe using wget or -spider etc is causing an issue. This thread here should assist with different examples on servers.

I cant set up the cron myself so I had to get them to do it and referred them to the thread on this forum about setting it up.
I will email them and find out how they set it up.

Yeah I have seen some quirky things happen like that when an cron their system does not like it wont run it all the way and the lastupdate field never gets updated and your script runs in a loop never updating the database.

Okay then hopefully that will work as all servers support different cron structures.

That makes no sense look at this query in sendnotice.php. Both the enddate and the status has to be less than the time the cron runs. At the end of the loop we update the auction status and enddate to the time it is now so when this runs again that auction should not be found.

When I ran the sendnotice.php manually it stopped, it came up with messages saying sending notice to blah blah saying your sale ends in 4 days etc. I should have recorded what it said.

If it doesnt do it when you run manually there is something about your cron that is not allowing the script to run correctly.
