subcats not showing in admin

I am not sure if this is a bug, but i have made no changes to the code whatsoever. All of my subcategories show on the main index without an issue. i can edit the order of the subcats by click sort, and they all show up, but after adding my ~16th subcategory (total, not 16 for one top-level category) the subcats all disappeared from the admin. this is a brand new installation of 2.6 and we are not live yet. i am posting screenshots below in case that makes it easier.

any help is much appreciated

Click the hyperlinked names of your parent categories to see the subcats

wow, now i really feel like an idiot. thanks a bunch. any idea on why it would go from showing them to not, though? i don't really care, it works fine this way, i am just curious

depends on how many cats you have we will show x amount but once you go past a certain number we clean it up so they all display
