| Unable to edit or delete comments...
Sorry for yet another question Chuck.
For some reason - no comments are showing in the Admin Approval section - and when I (an admin) click on the edit link - it opens the edit screen, allows me to edit or select to delete it - I submit - check - still there, unedited.
The only way I'm able to edit/remove Comments lately is directly via phpMyAdmin.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
TIA,

Comments are not suppose to appear in approval section that is for ads. You can moderate comments in moderate comments part of admin but thats only if they are unapproved. Otherwise editing a comment takes place by hitting the edit button on the actual comment

Comments always used to also show-up in the comments part of the admin...likely was a glitch fixed by last upgrade'
Regardless - I am aware how it should work with the Edit button - my point is that it doesn't work: Quote: |

In Moderate Comments only UNAPPROVED comments are suppose to show and this has always been the case that I an aware and is the intended act on part of the software. There is no place to view all comments

What do you mean you cant edit comments?
You can surely edit comments if you allow this. Let's look at the reasons why you could not.
1. In admin options this must be set to yes
Allow users to post comments?
2. In admin edit usergroups you must have the usergroup your in set to be able to post and edit comments.
3. In admin edit categories you must have your usergroup set to be able to post comments

I completely understand the "HOW TO" - what I'm saying is that IT WON'T LET ME. (Doesn't always apply - it's selective)
I'm reporting a PROBLEM - not asking for a tutorial.
I am having the problem under my account (admin) - so are my other admins & SuperMods. We have the permission - it acts like it works - once you go back to the comment- it's still there - not deleted or edited.

| There are NO error messages - it appears to work - reloads the page - doesn't work (when you look at the comment again).

I just placed a comment and deleted it on your site fine with no errors at all as I posted above. Do you want me to post another let you see it then go back and delete it to show you it works from what I am seeing?
There is nothing I know of that would not delete it as long as you have permission to do so. If you did not have permission you should get the no permission screen but your not so as long as you hit delete you can delete it. If you edit it then you just put the new text in there. I did yet another test on your site just editing a comment and now that second line shows http://www.aquariumpros.ca/pp-classi...p?product=8711
Maybe your cache is not updating in your browser?

| I don't know if it would have worked for the original poster or not - the last two times (last 2 days) I had to delete a few. - Member posted a comment he thought was a PM - wanted to delete it as it contained his phone #. It would NOT let him - I tried to delete it. Didn't work. I tried to just edit it. Didn't work. I was brought in after another Admin was initially contacted about it- and he could not edit or delete it. I ended up in phpMyAdmin to edit it instead.
- Last night - a member posted a rude comment - I tried to delete. Nope. I tried to edit. Nope.

So what - I am to just to resort to phpMyAdmin for comment edits?
You guys aren't online 24/7 - so when it happens again (it's a common problem) @ 11:30pm EST - where I can "prove" it happened (again) - and no one is online here to 'verify' - what am I to do?
As I said - this has been a common issue for many, many months...however, before, all recent comments also were listed in the comments section of the Admin side; where I was able to delete them. That seems to have been a 'glitch' - that somehow corrected itself upon applying the last update...
So this means that I am the only person that can edit or delete comments - as my other Admin/SuperMod/Mods don't have access to phpMyAdmin. |

Clearly editing and deleting a comment as I see you deleted mine and I have already tested editing and deleting a comment on your system and it has worked every time I tried http://www.aquariumpros.ca/pp-classi...p?product=8711 |

I can't tell you more then that as THIS is the problem. This is why I'm here - to get the 'experts' help. If I wrote the code - I might have a clue...but I didn't.
I get PM's from both members and my staff that they can't get it to edit/delete. I try - it won't allow me to delete it either...I resort to phpMyAdmin.
I would not be wasting either of our time if it wasn't an actual problem. You're welcome to PM the other Mods and Admins on the site to make sure that I'm not tellin lies.

If we can not replicate the issue on your site nor can you can not at this time then there is nothing we can do currently to help since there is not a problem currently

If you or another Support rep is online/available - it's doing it again right now.
