Apostrophe in User Name I'm using a combined user data base of over 7,000 users from my vBulletin forum linked into my PhotoPost Classifieds. These are on separate domain names and are up and running just great, BUT! It seems thar user O'Bara could log in on vBulletin and NOT on the classifieds. I removed the ' from his name and BINGO - it worked fine. Is the ' being stripped from the log-in user name on the Classifieds system? Do I do a work-around by naming him OBara. Thankfully, out of 7,000 I only have three other O's, but more will come or give up and get lost. |
Interesting. I dont seem to have this issue on my system and we do typecast the authuser variable so the variable should be addslashed before it is sent to the database Code: Content visible to verified customers only. |
http://www.smokstak.com/forum/phpinfo.php A - in a password may be involved too (jr-12) but we'll deal with one thing at a time. |
Try this in vb3.php Code: Content visible to verified customers only. |
With O'Anonymous Invalid login. Please check your username and password, or register. With OAnonymous works fine. |

OK, fresh install of Build: 1/6/07 10:17 PM in a test environment. User O'Malley can log in on vBulletin, but not on the classifieds. Error: Invalid login. Please check your username and password, or register. I have elimated all Irishmen from my main board. Log in information will be forthcoming via email. (Sorry for the delay.) |
I might have a similar problem. I had a user register on my vBulletin board as '02 BMW 330Ci for SALE After he posted a classified I was getting error messages using the rss feed. I moved the ad to a different category and the error moved with the ad. I deleted his ad and error was gone. I logged in as him, posted an ad and got the RSS error again. Only thing I can think of is that his username started with an apostrophe. |
RSS error there is no RSS to our default program so are you trying to discuss a hack. If so please discuss any issues with a hack in the respective thread. |
Hi guys, I discovered this same problem today. Was there a fix for this problem posted elsewhere? I have several users with apostrophe's in their account names. I'm sharing user accounts with vbulletin. Sorry to revive an old thread, but, it doesn't appear the fix is here. Chuck what did you find after obtaining your login at smokestak.com? |
You can try any suggestion like in post 4 but as I initially posted we typecast the authuser variable which is the user entered name on our login form so apostrophe's should not be an issue. Tested and works fine from what I am seeing as noted in this thread. I can not say what was an outcome from a 3 year old thread here but more than likely maybe they tried what I suggested in post 4. |
