Spider-friendly URLs Problem

When I set "Use Spider-friendly URLs" to "yes", categories do not display as seen here:

How can I fix this issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply Chuck.

In case anyone wants to know, I'm with Godaddy... so if you're planning on using this feature don't go with Godaddy I guess!?

I did some research into this, and found another similar problem with another godaddy customer on another forum. He said that "mod-rewrite" doesn't work with PHP with Godaddy.

So I called Godaddy, and they said that mod_rewrite does work with PHP, but apparently mod_rewrite must be set in my htaccess file according to Godaddy.

I'm not sure what that means, but they told me that I must first create an htaccess file...

Does this info help Chuck?

Chuck, you pointed out that my hosting provider cannot handle the Photopost spider-friendly URL feature... yet I made sure that I purchased hosting that met the photopost requirements prior to making my photopost purchase.

This feature is very important to me, infact it's one of the features that sold me on this product.

It would be a major problem to switch my hosting at this point, so I've tried on my own to get this feature working to no avail.

Godaddy insists that it should work, but they are obviously not familiar with your product... And since I'm not familiar with the inner workings of photopost, I have been unable to ask the correct questions to Godaddy to get this feature working.

My question is:

What specifically does my hosting provider lack that makes spider-friendly URLs function?

If you can answer this question, then A) I may still be able to get this feature working with my current host, or B) I can find a host that will support the feature.

Thank you.

Our spider urls have nothing to do with mod_rewrite persay. It is a PHP trick etc that needs the server to have depending on your apache version to have AcceptPathInfo On or AllowPathInfo On in your servers httpd.conf file and our code explodes the / into the correct ? ans & when we view the link

Thanks for the clarification.

I called Godaddy and they do NOT allow "AcceptPathInfo On ".

They said that I would need to purchase dedicated hosting to have access to this option
