Supersized image not rotated

I just discovered that if you rotate an image only the thumb and normal size are rotated, not the supersize.
Is it supposed to be like this?

(Using GD2)

Yes because the supersize is the original untouched image that is never touched by the image processor

How come they are resized both in pixel and filesize if they are never touched by the image processor?

The supersize is only resized if it is originally over the maximum supersize setting.
