Sort by... is not working properly

How is the sort by function set up?

What is default?

Can it be changed?

If you look at

you can see that the sort by function is acting strange.

Please advise.

Your sort seems to work fine for me

The default is sort 2 which is most views

Currently it is hard coded in the showcat.php but we can look at adding a selector box in edit categories on the new beta

If you look at

You will see that Most Views works fine.

But when you change sorting, you will see something different:

Most recent doesn't sort correctly

Most popular doesn't sort correctly

Least popular doesn't sort correctly

Product title doesn't sort correctly

In general it looks like some work, some don't.

Or is a listing combined of auction and asking price listed different?

Shouldn't all ads go down in numbers from the top (most views) ?

When this is written, it shows from top

but then it shows correctly further down.

To me, it seems to be a bug somewhere.

It works fine and I know your issue. Remember on your sorting look at the sort most views

INSERT INTO {$pp_db_prefix}sort VALUES (1,'Most Recent','ORDER BY disporder,date DESC')";

All sorts work by display order first then the sort.

You have 3 ads you have marked STICKY. Look at this page here and select most views and you see the first 3 ads. If you unsticky those sticky ads I think you will see sorts work fine.

Now, how does sticky work? I know I can make all user ads sticky, but how can users select sticky or order sticky. I can't find that anywhere.

I see I have in the admin page what is called

Order Stickies

but regular users have no option of ordering them and I cannot find how to set up a price for it in the admin section.

Only admin or mod can make a thread sticky just like on a forum

Stickies when you change a sort are simply viewed first then the rest of the sort takes place so stickies are first since there disporder is 1 and regular ads are 99999.

I hope that makes sense. Stickies still follow the sort but those are displayed first and then the rest. Hense every sort you do you find the first 3 ads which are sticky first and sorted according to the sort.

Okay I think I am not explaining this well enough. The whole purchase of Sticky posts is they always appear at the top of threads. Hense everything is sorted by the sort parameter and stickies appear first then the rest

Well, I understand it somewhat better now. it could also be me that is not asking the questions right , so let me try again the part that I still don't understand fully.

Now, in the admin section, there is something called "Order Stickies".

Clicking on that, I end up in what is called "PhotoPost Classifieds Admin Product Sorting Interface".

All that is shown there is:

No products have been marked as 'sticky' for this category.

I can select Category (show only "Wanted") and sort by alternatives.

Sales are not listed and I also wonder about what this section is used for.
