Cannot Login to classifieds Admin CP or as Regular Member(FIXED)

Group,

I have tried installing Photo Post Classified Ads version 2.4 at least 5 or 6 times now trying various things to get it to let me log into the admin control panel or as a registered member and it simply will not let me in.

I have tried it with Vbulletin integration and as a stand alone install.

When I go to http://domainname.com/classifieds/adm-index.php and enter in the user name and password that I know is correct it tells me invalid login, please check your user name and password or register.

I have verified the database and the user is in there so it is creating the users.

When I click on the login link in the upper right hand corner I get "Page Cannot Be Displayed" and the following link "url" in the address bar.

http://domainname.com/classifieds/login.php?login=yes

I have looked all over for a file called login.php and nothing anywhere.

Take a look at the attached snap shot image, that is all thats in the folder I downloaded from Photo Post, there is no login.php file in there.

I am able to install the actual classifieds program with no trouble other than once the program is installed I cannot login using any user name or password.

Can anyone help me?

Is there an older version of Photo Post Classifieds that I can download and try to maybe see I we can rule out the possability of it being something to do with this new 2.4 version of classifieds?

Thanks

Doug

line 1412 in pp-inc.php should read:

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
I'll update the pp-inc.php in the build if you would prefer to download it and upload that one file.

Michael,

I am currently using wordpad to edit my files. I was wondering if there are any free editor programs out there that will show the line numbers?

Also I will try and edit that one file and see what it does.

Im just curious but with all the problems with this new version 2.4 do you think it was really ready for production release?

Also Is it possible for me to download and try out an older version?

The link you provided won't work because there is no login.php; it needs to point to misc.php - so once you update pp-inc.php the link to login.php will be changed to misc.php instead.

2.4 is the current release, we do not have a mechanism for downloading older versions.

Michael,

I didnt provide any link. What are you talking about?

I changed that line in the pp-inc.php file like you told me to do and I still cannot login to either admincp or user.

Will you take a phone call Michael? I can explain this much better verbally.

Hi

in pp-inc I deleted this line:

------------
if ( VB3_INTEGRATION == "off" ) $log = "&middot; <a href=\"{$Globals['maindir']}/login.php?login=yes\">{$Globals['pp_lang']['login']}</a>";

-----------

and inserted at the same place the new line Michael wrote above.

But no improvement. I can see the login screen, but it does not accept the administrator username and password. The following message appears:

"Invalid login. Please check your username and password, or register."

This is Classified 2.4, fresh install, internal PP_class registration by the way...

Any hints what has to be changed?

Thanks in advance

We're talking about two difference issues; the link to login.php was incorrect, so I posted a fix for that. Your inability to login usually is a cookie issue, but I will do some further checking.

Hi Michael.
I've been posting an ongoing issue with log-in in now but no response. I'm still using 2.3 (downloaded a day prior to the update) so maybe its not the same as these guys with 2.4. My cookie settings all appear to be correct and I've tried everything I can find in these forums.

Basically I'm at breaking point with this software and need to find somebody who will actually respond to me, rather than a single user thread thats turned into a ranting mess as I have elsewhere on this board

Michael,

What is this link your referring to as being incorrect????

I have NOT supplied any links. Why do you keep referring to a link for the login.php file?

The only so called link was the url's that was showing in the address bar AFTER trying to login as a registered member and into the admincp as the admin.

Im not sure how it could be a cookie issue.

Somebody at Photo Post needs to get this problem fixed pretty darn quick or I want a refund of my money. I have not been able to get this thing to work since the first day I purchased it (sat) and I know darn well its not something I am doing, its in the software.

I installed Photo Post just fine without any trouble or problems but for some reason Classifieds does NOT work!

@ dcpaq2

could you please stick to one thread?

If you are referring to an answer, it might make sense to post your answer in the thread of your quote

I have the same login-problem, but it makes it just harder to find and understand a clear fix, if discussions about it are spreaded over different threads...

Guys.....in the classifieds installation area there are a number of threads regarding this issue. The general problem in the past seem to be that of cookies (if you are trying to run the classifieds with a forum such as VB etc).

The standard fixes (in the case of VB3) include insuring your license number is in the config.inc file, ensuring your cookies prefix is set (default with VB is generally bb) and using a / as the cookie path. I set these up in PHPmyadmin, in the settings table around the line 180 - 182ish area.

In my case none of these fixeshave worked. I've also tried using a cookie manager, deleting my cookies and reapplying them, and running the below query in PHPmyadmin with the settings table selected (which sets up the above parameters again).

Quote:
UPDATE pp_settings SET setting = '/' WHERE varname = 'cookie_path';
UPDATE pp_settings SET setting = '.yourdomain.com' WHERE varname = 'domain_path';
UPDATE pp_settings SET setting = 'bb' WHERE varname = 'cookieprefix';
Basically I'm now out of luck and waiting for support (for several days!!!). I downloaded the software last week and after many changes have managed to make everything work other than the admin login. Very frustrating! and certainly not what I expected from an off the shelf product

Testpig,

I feel your pain as well.

I myself have tried the install with VB integration and as a stand alone install and neither of them will allow me to login to the admincp or as a registered user.

I myself find this very frustating and a big inconveience.

If the product wasnt ready it should have never been released is how I feel.

Im waiting on a fix or my money back.

Hi Doug.
I'm over the anger. The end result is a nice functional piece of work. Once the admin issue is licked it will be great for my users.

Unfortunately the installer needs work and the issue's havent been well highlighted, but I'm too far in to go backwards now. I need a hand with one small glitch and hopefully I'll be away!

Glad to hear.

I'm patiently waiting for a fix.

Im hoping they will fix it and let us download new files from the members area instead of having to go in and manually edit files.

Going to bed, Ill check back later.

Once again, we're talking about two different issues here. In your first post you posted a link to login.php - and I said that link was not valid since we no longer have a login.php; so I psoted a fix for it.

The next issue is the authentication issue, which I am working on.
