Bidding

I think I may have stumbled on the problem here. The way the auction works, a person may list his spending limit and have his bid automatically raised
up to that limit if another bid (higher than the one he originally posted)
is made. For example: Bidder A places a bid of $5, with a limit of $500.
Bidder B bids $10, with a limit of $100. Since A's limit is higher, what
shows on the site is a listing that goes from [A:$5] to [A:$105] without
seeing any of B's bids.

Since sellers are complaining about 'people bidding against themselves and
raising the bidding out of reason,' perhaps a bidding history option would
solve this... some way of seeing who is doing the bidding, and who (if
anyone) is bidding more than they are willing to pay.

If I set up an auction there is a bid history

Of course the other members highest bids would not be shown this would be unethical. The user when submitting a bid is notified they have to bid higher. The whole point of having a max bid is so when someone tries to outbid you get bumped up. Every auction I know of works this way.

OK, maybe I am in a stupor, but I just set up an auction on my FaunaClassifieds.com site Auction and darn if I can see how to actually BID on that item. I can see it on my GunWantAds.com site, but NOT on the FaunaClassifieds one.

What the heck am I missing?

Aw crap........ I figured it out. The program won't let me bid on my own item so it just doesn't display that option. I had to log in as someone else to see it.

Sheesh........ Now I have to write an apology PM to Michael P.....

That's true, you cannot bid on your own item. No apology necessary.
