I'm in Cookie Hell -- No one can login to CLassifieds or Photo Albums

OK -- Last Wednesday I posted a thread that many members of my www.moparstyle.com/forums board couldn't log into the Classifieds www.moparstyle.com/classifiedads (there was no problem with them getting into the photo albums www.moparstyle.com/photoalbum)

I was on beta 5 and asked if I'd upgraded. Since I had not, I grabbed the Wednesday (noonish) build of the "Official" 2.0 and uploaded the five or six files I was told changed.

When that didn't help, I came back to report that -- and saw a post that there was a 2:45 build of the "Official" version -- and to upload the /forums/VB3.php file -- which I did.

I was out of pocket until Saturday, and when I returned, I had a lot of complaints that even more people couldn't login in to the classified. They'd try, it would look like it happened successfully -- but they wouldn't be logged in. I posted -- and didn't get answer. Just for kicks I uploaded all of the php files from the latest released -- and that was still no help. I personally wasn't seeing a problem, and many others weren't seeing a problem -- but many were. I could never figure out why -- but had those people dump their cookies and that too didn't help. As a matter of fact -- those who didn't have a problem who dumped their cookies were then locked out -- as were all new members.

I spent hours looking around and found the suggestion of changing the cookie domain from a blank to .moparstyle.com

So I did this on the VB3 forum, Photo Post Album, and Photo Post Classifieds.

Boom -- I can get into my forum, but not the admincp for the forum and everyone is emailing me to ask why I banned them! Since I'm locked out of the admin -- I can't go back in to delete the .moparstyle.com to a blank again.

I paid the person who maintains my server run a script he had that reset the cookie on VB3 to the default -- and we all have since been able to get in there. However, no one appears to be able to log into the Classifieds and Photo Album -- and I can't get in there to delete the .moparstyle.com in the cookie field to a blank.

At the moment, my classified and photo album is useless. Do you have a script (or any other advice) to get them back to working again?

OK -- I was able to get the cookie thing fixed enough for me to get in. I have it back to blank instead of .moparstyle.com on the forum, classifieds, and photo album. I can get in -- I just need to figure what percentage of the others can't.

Yes just saw this thread and was gonna post to directly hand edit the config files and change the domain name.

OK -- here's the status right now.

The classifieds site (http://www.moparstyle.net/classifiedads/) is using all of the new files in the update as of a couple days ago.

Many members are able to move between the forums (http://www.moparstyle.net/forums/index.php?referrerid=2), the classifieds (http://www.moparstyle.net/classifiedads/), and the photo albums (http://www.moparstyle.net/photoalbum/) without problems (they're still logged in). All members appear to be able to move between the forums and the photo albums and stay logged in.

However, there are also many members that are logged in at the forums and photo albums -- but are not logged in when they get to the classifieds. When they attempt to log in -- it appears that the log in is successful with the greeting -- but then they're presented the index screen without being logged in. These people have a variety of browsers (Netscape, IE6, Firefox,...) and have them set to default. They've dumped their cookies. Although this "appears" to be random on the older members -- it also appears to be the case for ALL new members. If a member has two logins (not a policy we wanted -- but have found a few members to have more than one) -- when they login with their other login -- they will have hosed themselves from the classifieds on both of their logins. One member used another member's login to help him on his sig -- and he too is now hosed from logging into the classifieds.

If you look -- you will also see that unregistered people are able to place ads. I've triple checked the User config in the Admin area -- and the only YES is for them to view ads.

I really need to get this fixed ASAP. We used the GEO-Source programs for a long time -- and the classifieds has always been popular. We had usually had about 125-150 ads a week, but have been hosed for close to a week. My in-box and PM box is full of people telling me they can't use the classifieds -- and I waste an hour a day answering them -- asking them to be patient.

I'll be in court all day (we're adopting a little girl) and won't be able to respond to anything until tonight -- but there is a thread where I've asked people to be specific with their problems, what browser they use, what the settings are, etc. It is at http://www.moparstyle.net/forums/sho...810#post510810 -- start with the posts made after 4PM Sunday as I've done nothing to try to resolve this since then.

Techincally none of your products are aligned from what I see. You can keep a site from creating a login cookie if the info is not entered correctly.

To have both Photopost and classifieds logins integrated with Vbulletin set cookie settings to this in both products

$cookie_path="/";
$cookie_domain=""; DOMAIN IS BLANK AS YOU SEE HERE

THEN MAKE THE $VBLICENSE variable what your Vb license is. You must enter this correctly in the config of both products for the logins to work.

I have everything as you suggest -- except the prefix. I'll try that.

Also -- in my Photopost Classifieds Admin -- edit config, the "path to PhotoPost Classifieds Installation" (the top field) is set to "."

Is that correct -- or did I sccidently enter that at some point?

I wonder why I never (in the almost three years) had a problem with the Albums with no prefix?

WIll this also resolve the Unregistered people placing ads?
