IE Cookies??

I have been trying out Internet Explorer and flash uloader. I can replicate on more than one website that if I upload about 8 or more images through the flash uploader... fill in the title, details, click email notification and then tick the agree to uploads license, then wait for the final file to upload and click submit button logs out the user.
The same process in Firefox works and the pictures are uploaded and the user is not logged out.
I've cleared cache and cookies and tried the same on a different machine.

I'm also getting reports from my members base that they are having the exact same problem. Basically if they upload with IE they get logged out when clicking on the submit. Also the uploaded images seem to either be placed in the wrong category and/or remain in the upload queue... either way they are not accessible to the member or administrators.

Flash up-loader now removed as I have hundreds of members complaining that they get logged out when uploading pictures with IE.
As there is clearly no support here...I think I'll leave this to the old up-loader

The flash uploader has nothing to do with cookies so I would suspect your issue with cookies might be something different like your urls being slightly different from forum gallery as in one maybe domain.com and www.domain.com

To make sure you do not have issues with cookies your vb cookies should be set like this

cookie path /

cookie domain .domain.com

Is this only with IE and not with Firefox? What version of IE are you using?

Yes this happening only with IE. It's not just me most of my members who use IE are complaining of the same.
I'm using IE8,
Firefox works fine.
@ Chuck my VB cookies are set correctly
cookies path /
cookies domain .4mymates.co.uk

IE users don't get logged out if they move between forum and gallery so I'm sure it's not domain cookies that is the problem.... and I would have thought that that would effect all browser... whereas FireFox is fine.
I have also tried to disable all plugings and products in case any were interfering with VBgallery

I have IE8 on my machine please post a url and a test login to upload I will give it a try.

I brought up cookies are slight changes in domain names etc between the forum and gallery would account for a logout but I would need to physically see your site to comment.

Thanks for the offer!
I have made a new account @ registered user level so I'm not worried about posting the login details here... I'll delete the account later.

This is one of my quiet sites so you can post anything. My last test was a jpg @ 181kb I uploaded it to the members area and haven't tried to make an album. The file uploads and I filled in the title as "test" and the description as "test" I ticked the email notification and ticked the license agreement... Hit submit and then was logged out.
I've checked the flash upload path and made sure the directory is 777, but as I said the same uploads work fine in FireFox.
Thanks for your help.

Well I have just tried 5 different browsers and I seem to be logged in fine. IE8 was the first I tried. I have yet to be logged out in any of the browsers. You can see I have uploaded leave up your login for Michael and he can try.

I just cant seem to replicate this myself so maybe Michael can. Here you can see how I uploaded well over 15 images at a time

Right I've found the problem with this.
Chuck when you logged in you chose to stay logged in... I didn't
So although our test seemed the same they weren't
If members upload with IE8 and didn't choose "Keep me logged in" then they are logged out during the upload stage every-time.

All other browsers are not affected.

I believe what your saying. As stated maybe Michael has something to say that might help. I am not aware of anything in vbGallery that would delete a cookie. Maybe in the flash code lets see.

Test this

If you set your uploader to the regular uploader does this issue happen?

If I set the user to regular uploader and not flash the uploads work perfectly in IE. Users don't need to choose "keep me logged in"

Well, now it comes back to me, I believe this is true. The reason is that flash doesn't recognize sessions - at least thats what I'm going off memory for. Flash requires cookies to read for authentication. I do not believe I ever found a work around for this and feel like it was documented at one point - although maybe that got lost after all this time?

Now that you say that I seem to remember something vaguely also. Maybe it was discussed in the Pro release when flash was added?

I am sure it was; but we havent heard about it being a problem. Maybe we added some checking code in PRO that didn't make it into vBGallery, I'll do some checking.

This is most like going to come down to some IE 8 bug. I would suggest turning off the flash uploader which is third party code.

That will resolve the issue until we even see if there is anything we can do about that.
