Thumbs & Orig OK, but displayimage.php won't show normal image
 

Normal http://pokegym.net/gallery/files/9/1...-25_249801.jpg exists.
Thumb & orig for this image exist.

However, if you upload an image under about 254 pixels width to this category, displayimage won't show you the normal size image.

Image and thumbs have been rebuilt for this category.

Images in question have been uploaded since the 2.5.1 upgrade. The user for this category kept uploading increasingly larger images from our standard 155 pix width until displayimage.php finally showed the image.

2 things..
1. why are u using displayimage..??
displayimage is only used to watermark images on the fly..
but when I look at

it seems to be watermarked permanently allready so does not need to be watermarked a second time on the fly..
does the problem persist if you turn watermark off?
I meen if you do not watermark the files (or watermark permanently)
then you would NOT be using displayimage AND we could see if the files exist.

2. check your filetype settings (acp->vbgallery->edit filetypes):
As a general rule:
max width should be the same as max height
AND min width & height should be smaller than that value.

Example:
max width and height both set to 300

IF you upload an image that is bigger than 300px height or bigger than 300px width (example 350px wide and 250 px high)
you will have an original 350x250
a normal image about 300x20x
and a thumbnail
but
if you upload an image that is 299x200
You will NOT have an original.. as the image is smaller than 300
it will not be resized.
so you have :
normal image 299x200
and thumbnail..

you say you have set max width to 155
then you must have set max height to something different.. or left it empty
this can give unpredicted results depending on the image itself.

what it does.. it first checks if upload image is wider than maxwidth..
if not, it does nothing..
then it checks if is higher than max height.. if yes.. it will resize.. if no it does nothing..

so depending on what you have set as max height, it will only resize images that are wider than 155 px

short answer:
1. turn watermark off (remove the filename from the field in acp)
we will then be able to see what the files look like.. (if they exist etc)

2. set your filetype to max width = max height and regenerate normal images (for that cat only) I would suggest you use a small cat to run tests.. so that you will not have to regenerate hundreds of images...

there can also be another problem...
display image will do strange things IF
your watermark logo is wider or higher than your image.. and you are using GD2 as resize method.
if this is the case open forums/includes/functions_gallery_imageedit.php

around line 633 find:
and replace with:
this will remove the watermark logo width & height check..

If the uploaded image is 254 pixels wide, it shows up, if not, it doesn't.

Just to answer your questions, not to justify our craziness...

Our staff wants to get discussion going on a card. They download it from our gallery with the watermark on it. The resize it and upload it to this 'Card of the Day' category, and I have a CMPS module that displays the last uploaded image from that gallery on page one (and links it to the discussion forum for Card of the Day). This way the members know what card we're discussing.

No one has ever remarked on the double watermark, that I can recall, except you. And well... we should have removed the watermark from the CotD gallery.

And now we have :)

I've also made a smaller watermark to employ if needed in other categories.

you can also make the modification above, removing the width check..
the only thing that will happen is that the watermark will go over the border of the image.. but that is a smaller problem than the image not showing..

Yes, I'm definitely keeping that in mind. There will be situations where that might be the only way to fix the images. Although, I prefer not to edit the application files, if only because I have to re-edit on upgrade. :)
