Exclamation Default Upload Category Bug

Chuck,

I (and has my moderator in charge of our gallery) have noticed that with the most recent upgrade that when the user clicks on the Upload form to upload an image that the category drop down is now populated with the first category on my category list, as opposed to being populated with something telling the user to choose their upload category.

What is happening is that a bunch of images are being uploaded into that category now, even though they don't belong there. That is creating a lot of work for us to move photos around. Is there a way to change it back to the previous default which was to force the user to select the proper category on upload?

BTW I am still not using the Flash upload because I could never get it to work, so this is just the standard upload procedure I am talking about.

Thanks in advance!

I do beleive this is how its suppose to work. I can ask Michael if anything was changed but my recollection was that the first displayed category was always displayed there.

Ok please let me know because I (and my moderator) both swear that it used to have the text "Main Site Photo Albums" which is bold and just above my first category listing and if you tried to upload into that it would tell you to select a category, so members HAD to select a category and hopefully the right one.

It used to say to pick a category; however, with the Flash uploader this created some problems. Now it displays the first category with the instructions to pick a category.

OK well if I don't use the Flash uploader can I have it go back to asking them to pick a category please?

If you want to modify the template accordingly, you could.

In your adv_gallery_upload template add the code in bold where noted

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.

Ok that worked! A little long winded and somewhat duplicative but at least that should prevent dumps into the first category. Thx!

Yep Chuck this is the one I spoke about. I still have that modification in my template, so I am guessing that template works for "normal" uploads but isn't used for Flash uploads, now that I am using the Flash uploader where should I put a template modification to achieve the same thing?

Yep that worked, btw your HTML above is missing a < before the /option> needs to be like this:

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
See all is better now, well at least until I have to upgrade again and we've forgotten that we've done this... Or you could make this the default going forward!
