| Can't Quick Reply or Post Reply
Not sure what all has changed with vbulletin anymore, but now i can't post comment's to pictures posted in the gallery.
If i try to quick reply, it refreshes to this error:
The following errors occurred with your submission:
1. Please complete both the subject and message fields.
and on the new page, it shows a 0 in the message box. When i remove the 0 and type in a message, it refreshes to the error above.
Other issues have still been some user's not having avatars or post counts showing, as well as new registered member errors. I have made the changes that have been suggested in other post's.
Is there going to be an updated vbgallery for the new vbulletin? If not, i really need some help with keeping the current stuff working.
thanks, hotwheels of insanemustangs.com

I am currently running PhotoPost vBGallery v2.4.3, and vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 2.
i also noticed that i am still getting these errors when i keep vbgallery enabled: errors
This is kind of getting frustrating........I basically have to keep vbgallery disabled in order to keep my site functioning correctly, and i can't use this gallery for anything....I hate to delete the program since i have been using it before photopost even bought it.

well when looking at the errors at first sight.. there seems to be a conflict between vbgallery and shoutbox . The $userid is empty in all cases
but those errors were for vb3.72 question: did you get it working BEFORE you upgraded to 3.80 beta?
(btw i wouldn't use a beta release on an active site.. but thats your prob)
If you got it working, did you fix it by using kirby's plugin and fix? in that case you might have to reinstall it or change the execution order.. (all depends where shoutbox puts that query)

No, it hasn't worked right for a long time. Since my upgrade to 3.8 though, i have lost the ability to post comments to images........I have been following your thread though, and every once in a while i try to follow through some of the bug post's and see if there are any true fixes yet, and It just seems to be getting worse..Not sure what to do at this point, i really like using vbgallery for my big photo shoots from events, but it is at the point now where i just can't use the system.
Has anyone heard from zachiary? Has he left the team completely? He did a really good job with keeping the gallery up to date......I am not taking away from anyone else on the gallery team, but zach was really good. He fixed my set up a couple times. One time i really remember was when there was a hole in the system and my site was hacked.....he closed the hole and got all of the damage repaired. He is surely missed by me.

well then its probably a 3.8 issue.. they probably changed the postbit template.. or changed a hook or something else. I'm not installing it until its Release Candidate because they are still bound to make lots of changes in beta stage... and its no point fixing something that has to be undone when 3.8 goes gold. but thats me.. maybe someone else has it installed.

You are so right.......I was up to vbulletins latest, and yet it seems like every couple weeks there is another update, so i figured to heck with it and moved up to 3.8 beta. I agree, it's sucks cause they are always changing stuff......However, all of my other mods are working. Vbgallery is the only one that isn't working correctly.....I have 5 different photo programs on my site and they all work correctly on 3.8 cept this one. (CPG, VbPicGallery, VBGallery, Vbulletin Album, VBGarage).

I should mention though, i am going to be removing VbPicGallery and moving all of those images to VBgarage. I hope to keep CPG, VBgallery, vbulletin album and the garage.
I use cpg for hosting of images, so i don't have to use an outside server, I use vbgallery for my photo shoots of automotive events, vbgarage is used for members rides and important information related to their rides, and the vbulletin album is used as a default system so members can fill up their profiles...Not sure if any of these programs can replace what vbgallery had offered though, was a good program.

Well i guess that puts me in a really bad spot eh? All these years of having to pay for an updated license, only to find this quit working when 3.7 went gold.
At this time, 3.8 isn't that far out for gold. Most changes have been with PM areas of the software, and it looks like some hooks for posting comments.
That's alright though chuck. Life will move on i recon. Sucks that 3.8 is that tough of a beta to work with though.
Very sorry to trouble you guys on this issue. This will be my last post about it.

I am merely saying we do not at this time support 3.8 as it is a beta software. It is only beta 2 they are along way off from gold there more than likely a couple months. vb usually has at least 4 to 5 betas and then 3 to 4 RC candidates before going gold.
We will support vbulletin 3.8 once it is gold I am sure.

I totally understand chuck, and it isn't personal at all, but this program quit working correctly when vbulletin went to 3.7......I have had to keep it shutdown just so people can register on my site, it was actually causing errors then as shown in post #3. So whether it is 3.7, 3.8, 10.0, the program still isn't working correctly and shutting stuff off to force it to work isn't the correct way to handle the problem either. I tried all of the test updates that were suggested on other posts and still had a bunch of issues, no avatars, no post counts, mysql errors, etc.....now we can't comment on images, which would be fine, since the program isn't working correctly anyways. I have spent a couple months trying to just pop in everyonce in a while and see if there has been a complete fix to all of the issues the software has been having. I believe i have been very patient on this issue and instead of argueing a mute point, i will just move onto a different software program and try to move everything over. Not a big deal, just sucks that i have to spend more money, do to the issues with vbgallery. Like i stated earlier, i have been using this program for quite a few years now, and yea there has been allot of changes and vbgallery team members used to have really great customer service when it came to all of the updates within vbulletin itself.
I am no coder nor do i claim to be, but it seems that if it's a newreply.php issue, team members would already have 3.8 beta download and testing to try to keep one step ahead of the competion. Then again, maybe i am wrong. But this didn't just start when i upgraded to 3.8.

Well I'm not member of the team.. just a user..
By curiosity i just downloaded 3.8 beta and blog 2 beta 4..
I did a fresh install on my localhost
i then installed a fresh downloaded version 2.43 of vbgallery..
i uploaded 4 pictures.. and added 3 replies to each...
works like a charm!! no newreply issue at all
The only thing i changed in standard config was that images and posts are not moderated for regged users and admins. And that unregged users cannot upload or reply to images..

Thats good to hear Luciano.
Hotwheels as Luciano posts he is not having an issue although yes we do work with betas we have just begun the beta process for vbgallery. I am not sure what does not work with vb 3.7 as vbgallery 2.4.3 works fine with that version.
Have you tried disabling your hacks and plugins and testing things. Make sure you are using unmodified reverted clean templates. PhotoPost vBGallery
That is a clean vbgallery with vb 3.7 no issues there.

I'm having the same issue with 3.8 as well. Is it possible for you to give us a quick fix until you have time to delve into it further?

There is no fix that I can give you as I am not the vbgallery specific developer nor do I use vb 3.8. Our policy is we will support a vbulletin version that is gold not beta.

The error only occurs on Standart Editor , if you use Wysiwyg it works correctly. You need to investigate Standart Editor interferance Chuck. It should be a very quick fix.

vbgallery does not use $vbulletin->GPC['message'] but cleans the post vars earlier with $message = $vbulletin->input->clean_gpc('p', 'message', TYPE_STR); . Thats ok.. but if somewhere in 3.8 init or global.php the postvar is cleaned allready or set to 0 if you are not in forums.. it cant be fetched twice..
anyway to fix that issue try following:
open gallery/newreply.php:
find: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
and replace with: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
I think this should fix the problem.
Luc
--------------------------------
I found another problem (but it can be selfmade -- so test if you have it also) (its only cosmetic)
if quickreply is empty.. and you click on "go advanced" you get to main editor.. but you also have an error message. Quote:
1. Please complete both the subject and message fields.
2. The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 0 characters.
| this is normal.. because quick reply was empty.. but it should only be there if you actually posted and NOT if you come from quickreply..
If you can reproduce it do following:
open gallery/newreply.php and find: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
and ABOVE add: Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
but again.. i checked some other installs.. some have the problem.. some dont.. so check if you have it before fixing..
