Can't build a thumbnail off certain gif files

For some reason I can't get the attached file to create a 200 pixel thumbnail in vbgallery.

I have my memory limit set to 256M...
I'm running 2.4.3...

Also using GD2 as my engine..

I'm trying to get it to resize a few animated gif's, and some are just not going through.

I know it will create a static thumbnail image, which is fine. I just want it to be able to create a thumbnail.

Currently it just goes to a blank page. I have more images that are doing this, but this is just one of them.

Any ideas?? Vbulletin seems to take it ok, and create a thumbnail just fine in this post..

vBGallery doesn't like this file..

Any suggestions?

Ones that upload fine seem to the same depth.. So I'm raking my brain trying to figure out why they don't generate a thumb..

Is imagemagik to use than GD2??

Nope. Not running safe mode. Vbulletin is set up to not run in safe mode as well.

I did notice I'm using GD 2.0.34.. I see in the latest stable version there are some GIF fixes.. ReleaseNote020035 - LibGD

Could this be the issue (running 2.0.34)?

Thanks for the help!!!! I appreciate it..

The part that leads me to vbgallery, is that vbulletin (the forums) creates a thumbnail just fine..

I was able to get the file I added here to (in the previous post) to upload in the gallery.. I think I posted the wrong file (the one you were able to upload ok).

I have confirmed this image doesn't upload.. http://www.uploadgeek.com/uploads456...012_579438.gif

I can't attach it here as the file limit is too low..

Please see if that file uploads for you on your other site. I tried to register on it to do it myself, but can't.

I'm not sure where to check this. Would pasting my php_info help to see the issue?

Thanks for your help. This is driving me crazy!! Some Gifs work, while some don't..

Zachariah,

Is there a way I could get you to look at why vbgallery isn't creating some thumbnails on my site? It's getting stuck on certain ones. I can seem to find the common thing. Some images are just fine, while others won't process a thumbnail. It's wierd..

Thank you ahead of time!

Zach,

I'm not sure if you tried the correct file I posted above. (I see it's no longer on that upload site, so I just uploaded it directly to my server).

This one of the files that is giving me issues when it creates a thumbnail:
http://www.sitexperience.com/ski/test.gif

I'm not sure how to check the php cache.. I'm on my own dedicated server, and can do anything I need to it, to get this to work correctly.

Thanks a million for your help!! This is driving me nuts!

Here's a wierd thing, I also run reviewpost on the same site.

Here, you can see it created a thumbnail just fine.

So it appears to be vbgallery that is not working correctly.

If you'd like to see into the admincp just let me know, and I'll create an admin account for you..

Large animated gifs are the issue. I will take a look.

Thanks...

Like I mentioned in this thread and in the pm I just sent, Reviewpost can create a thumbnail with the animated gif. So something isn't the same with vbgallery..

I lean toward this being a vbgallery issue, as reviewpost is using GD2, and is able to create a thumbnail.

So reviewpost can generate a thumbnail of certain animated gifs (the ones that vbgallery is having trouble making a thumb)..

Actually animated gifs are hit and miss as some will process and some will not. That is at least what I have seen over the years.

Exactly. I can't figure out why vbgallery won't process this thumbnail:
http://www.sitexperience.com/data/2/sx0012_579438.gif

However, reviewpost can process it just fine:
ttter. - SiteXperience - Post your Site Opinions!

So I know there is something wierd going on with vbgallery.

I guess I am hoping is something easy..

I am assuming I have to settle for this bug in vbgallery? (I call it a bug, as other products here are able to build the thumbnail)

Zachariah,

Were you able to find out why it couldn't build off the images I posted? Hopefully you were able to see the cause.. :

Thanks for looking into this!!
