Helpful Information when you need Support!!!

This has been stickied on the forums for some time now but lately it has become necessary to make this more visible. It is imperative that customers adhere to these policies to have a successful outcome. We spend about 4 times as long assisting customers nowadays because no one wants to provide information so we can assist them. We need clear concise information so we can assist you.

When posting a question in any of the support forums, it would be VERY helpful if you would always do the following. It helps expedite answers!
  • Tell us what server operating system you are running. Windows? Flavor of Linux? What version is it? Service packs or other updates applied?

  • Tell us what version of PHP and MySQL you are running.

  • Tell us whether the server in question is a dedicated host or if it is a shared host.

  • Tell us if the server is under your control or if you are leasing/renting/borrowing hosting space from someone else.

  • Give us a URL that links us straight to your PhotoPost installation. If it is a private installation that limits access to unregistered guests, give us a dummy account to use that actually has access to the photos.

  • Be nice and be patient!!! Not everyone who answers your question is a "Paid PhotoPost Employee" ... a lot of us are going to be fellow PhotoPost users who have been down that road before and have advice to share. If you're rude and piss us off, you're just going to cut your own throat.

Even the PhotoPost employees don't deserve to be treated badly just because something isn't working right for you and you're aggrivated by it. Chances are you're not the only problem ticket they are working on at any given moment. Realize that you sometimes have to just take your turn and wait in line.

Take a breath. Relax. It's just the Internet!

Just some helpful points to ponder while surfing these forums and thinking about how to pose that next technical support question.

Just a reminder as well that our support forums are here to assist you with the normal working of the application. If you are asking a code modification question please do so outside the support forums in the MOD CORNER. Please read that sections policies here.

New to the Forums? Can't Post? Need to become a Verified Customer!

Welcome Members,

With the huge customer base we have we have put into place an automated verification system to verify license holders whom are entitled to support. One owned license grants you the right to run one software installation on one domain for an unlimited time, and purchasing an owned license gives you access to our members download area and support for one year. Therefore if your members access is expired you may need to renew access by purchasing a members area renewal to obtain product support. You can at anytime sign into the members area and view your access status.

We have made it easy to obtain support by matching your forum account email to the same as your license email enables us to track what users are entitled to support. We have also made improvements to our members area and you are able to link multiple licenses to one login to keep track all your licenses via one login.

So in our forums now you will see VERIFIED CUSTOMER under your username if you are a valid license holder. We would ask anyone who is a valid license holder that does not see this tag under their username that they update their forum account email to match that of there license so they will show as a verified customer. The update script runs every hour so once you do this you will properly show up on our forums with the tag under your name in posts.

Please not after making the change and allowing sufficient time for the cron task to bump you into the verified group you would then need to post on the forum to elevate yourself. This is how vbulletin usergroup change works.

If you are a new customer and do not yet have access; it is probably because your license has not yet been issued. Once your license has been issued and you have the same email in your forum profile, the system will update you within an hour or two.
