Looking for a member: Search results

(1) There seems to be no way to search for member photos. When I complete only a partial member name and click "search", I get:

Could not find phrase 'llery_error_no_search_fields'.

Okay, looking for a broken phrase comes later (it exists unbroken in the database). I don't believe I have been editing those files or phrases.

But suppose the error says I need to complete search fields. Why? I put in a partial member name.

Okay, so I go back and check "description".

My partial member name was "joe".

"Search results: Posts made by JoeBlow or AndyJoe or Joedy,..."

(2) There are hundreds of names listed. It's not pretty or useful.

Clicking on a name goes to a profile, not their photos. On further digging, many of the names listed do not even have photos. Why would they be listed on search results for user name?

I asked for results sorted by user name. They aren't, neither the results box nor the photos themselves. I can't figure out what the sort order is.

I'd like to see a simple way to search for photos by username.

Better still, I'd like to be told I have done something terribly stupid, and the answer is in front of my face!

(3) Looking further, I find this in search.php:

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
... That is one of the strings I replace in templates, since we have our own member profiles. In fact, shouldn't these bits be in a template...?

===
Just need some help determining what I do not understanding, what might be coming in a future release, and where I am dreaming.

Please and thank you.

I'll have to look into this and give you an answer for most things tomorrow after I get home. One thing I can answer for you now though...

If you enter "joe" and don't check the 'Exact name' filed then it's going to check the database for all users that have "joe" in their username, get the corresponding userid, and then find all images posted according to those userids. Those usernames would still be included in the search. If you try searching for a partial username on your forums you should see that it will do the same thing and list all of the names even if that user hasn't posted.
