Another installation for testing

I have vBulletin 3 and photopost 5.31 on my site (let's say mysite.com).

And now I want to upgrade vBulletin to 4 version and photopost to 7 version.

But I want to test them before. I am going to create subdomain test.mysite.com and install new versions to it.
This subdomain will be directory protected (.htaccess)

Is it OK to use same photopost license for working installation on mysite.com and for testing installation on test.mysite.com?

As long as it is not web accessible meaning public it is fine. So using the htaccess to block it is good just delete it when your done.
