Is photopost being actively maintained? Hi there, I'm looking for a gallery system for site, and I like photopost, due to its tight integration with vb. but in my eyes, it's interface is kind of "old fashioned", missing lots of new-look functionality, such as ajax lightbox, ajax image scrolling, etc. I wanted to ask- is photopost is actively maintained and developed? If so, is there a road map for the product and for the features to be included in the future? I'd love to see that- it'll give me lots of comfort in to engage with photopost. Same goes to reviewpost. Is it actively maintained? When was the latest release of it? Many thanks! |
Of course our products are "actively maintained" and improved. We supply feature lists at the time of our BETA cycle, we do not publish a "roadmap" prior to that. |
You know what Aviv, I had some of the same questions before I purchased. Being an avid user of Coppermine, 4Images and gallery2 software, there is no comparison in support and in speed of the program. One of the main reason I bought it is due to the ease of its use, for admin functions and users. The other software was too hard to manage, and slow.. I have had several discussions on certain tweaks on my site, as with many other users here, and Either Michael or Chuck have been too eager to help you tweak until your heart desires, with almost instant fixes as I am typing this. The layout might be old fashioned, but hey, since you run a VB forum, you can use its layout instead with integration. I wouldn't settle for anything else in product and more important, instant support... |
The default gallery view has some 4 different kinds of user selectable/admin configurable layouts and two category listing styles (forum and gallery); I can't say I've seen that kind of flexibility in any other product out there. |

It feels like fully featured gallery, I just think the effects on the image presentation side can be improved... I guess what I'm missing is cool effects such as ajax integration- eg, ability to slide show images, ajax based image moving (no need for complete page reload), zoom, and the likes- such as the expose image gallery and the like, image rotator, etc. also, using mootools javascript great stuff can be added. just some thoughts. I'll probably end up purchasing it- as it looks like a good component. |
For others reading this, we do support lightbox (click on the main image here): L2Z2147 - PhotoPost Photo Gallery ...ajax scrolling next/prev photos (click the right or left arrows beside the first row of thumbnails): L2Z2147 - PhotoPost Photo Gallery zoom (scroll over image): L2Z2147 - PhotoPost Photo Gallery and we've had a slideshot for some years: PhotoPost Photo Gallery Slide Show - PhotoPost Photo Gallery |
