Test in secret before "live"

Is there a way I can set this up, test it and trial run it before it becomes visible to my forum members? I don't want to turn the forum "off", but would like to work on it live.

You can install it and not tell the members where it is at sure or you can restrict it with some type of htaccess user login

Thanks Chuck, so I can install it, and it won't automatically "hook" into VBulletin, correct?

Also I would really like to install the plugin which will allow the thumbnails of the latest ads to be displayed at the top of the forum...can you point to where this add-on is, and is there a way me to test this also without it being "public"?

Yes no link is going to appear on your forum you would put one.
