separate databases?

This is in regards to each of your products, PhotoPost, Classifieds and ReviewPost as I have sites that I may be using each of those products on...

When integrated with vBulletin, do the databases for these products need to be a part (merged with) of the vB forum database or will I be able to use separate databases and just have user authentication run from the vB database?
