Integrate with Invision2.1.5 and convert Gallery1.5.1 We are at present using IPB 2.1.5 with Gallery 1.5.1 having a bit over 20,000 photos in over 50 member folders. 1) will your software seamlessly integrate into IPB 2.1.5 so there is no need for 2nd login? 2) May different levels be set to match levels/groups (like that IPB uses already in the forums, 3) May a user seperately password protect a subfolder within his/her area of your gallery? (like smugmug utilizes) 4) Is there a way to tranfers all the present photos from Gallery 1.5.1 into your software? 5) can one limit uploads by members to be only jpg, avi, wmv formats? 6) if someone uploads a video, will a thumbnail be generated? 7) is there a visible link that members may use to link a specific photo elsewhere? (i.e. like those used by photobucket) Can this be turned on and off? 8) is there a means to find orphaned photos and rebuild /optimize the database (a key note, as it seems most gallery software tends to slow down after a few thousand photos are entered into it...) 9) May your software be hosted on a different site and yet still linked back into the forum area? I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong area or asking too much at once, but I have tried many other gallery software and twice converted the photos by hand ( a chore that I will NOT do by hand again...) |
1) will your software seamlessly integrate into IPB 2.1.5 so there is no need for 2nd login? Yes our software integrates with Invisionboard 2 2) May different levels be set to match levels/groups (like that IPB uses already in the forums, Yes we integrate with the Invisionboard usergroups and you can set different usergroup permissions for each 3) May a user seperately password protect a subfolder within his/her area of your gallery? (like smugmug utilizes) A user may make private albums that are only viewable to people he gives the password to yes. 4) Is there a way to tranfers all the present photos from Gallery 1.5.1 into your software? No. 5) can one limit uploads by members to be only jpg, avi, wmv formats? Yes you can define what types of files are uploadable in the upload options 6) if someone uploads a video, will a thumbnail be generated? There is no ability to grab a thumbnail from a video since that depends on a technology that is not present on most servers. This for the most part is achieved with proprietary software. You can upload an optional thumbnail on upload of a video to represent it otherwise the default generic multimedia thumbs will be used. 7) is there a visible link that members may use to link a specific photo elsewhere? (i.e. like those used by photobucket) Can this be turned on and off? Yes you can choose either direct link ubbcode or html links and they can be turned off or on. 8) is there a means to find orphaned photos and rebuild /optimize the database (a key note, as it seems most gallery software tends to slow down after a few thousand photos are entered into it...) What do you mean by orphaned photos? If you delete a user in a standalone photopost the photos are deleted of that user. If you delete a user in a forum you can run a resync username and the photos will still be there but owned by anonymous. You can also bulk delete photos in different cats etc. 9) May your software be hosted on a different site and yet still linked back into the forum area? If the forum host allows external mysql connections you can link to the forum site. However your going to have to login to the forum and the gallery since cookies only work under one domain name and if they are on different servers the domain names will be different. |
thanks! Great answers... of course the only stopping point was that you can't convert from gallery 1.5.1... :( If you should ever add this capability, I will purchase this in an instant! THANKS! |
so if i have vBadvanced Gallery v1.0 RC4 & i install photopost, it will erase all of the pictures that are currently up there? |
He is talking about Menalto Gallery which we do not have an importer for. If you use vBGallery you can use the vBGallery to Photopost importer if you purchase Photopost and want to convert to that product. |
okay, I have still been researching. I found from others whom use this software a bit more information. It seems it does integrate with IPB just fine... as to setting levels automatically, that it does not yet... It doesn't use the 'levels' from IPB like I had hoped. At least not the way that is useful for a photography site. A Trial Member can see everything a Full Member can... and a Trial Member can see anything a VIP, Moderator, or even Admin posts. (execpt private of course, but then no one see those unless they are given a link..) The albums and photos can't themselves be set to 'levels', so only specific groups can view them. Has this been addressed since I last asked about this? |
Not sure what you mean by we dont integrate with IB2 groups. You set in our Edit Usergroups portion and Edit Categories portions you set who can view upload etc to your cats so we have master permissions and secondary refined permmissions to determine which usergroups have permission to do actions per category. |
