| PhotoPostClassifies: Guests, Styles, Distance questions...
I'm about to buy several PPC's, but I need clarity on a few issues: - Styles
I have (or will have) custom designs for my vBulletin. When my PhotoPost Classifieds is integrated with my vB will PPC autmoatically inherit the style of the vB, or will I have to manually adjust the syle of PPC? [eta: After reading this thread, I think the answer to this is, "It's automatic."] - Who can place ads?
Can I set permissions to allow unregistered GUESTS to post ads? (Assuming they pay any listing fee?) [ETA: Found the answer to this is YES, unregistered can place ads.] - "Distance" field
I would like to keep this field, but I'm unclear as to how the information is entered. When a member (or guest) places an ad, are they asked for their zip code or full address?
Is there any way to display the full address? (Most of my ads will be businesses) - Additional 'field' changes...
I'm assuming I can change the fields like 'asking price', etc to anything I want - yes?

[eta: After reading this thread, I think the answer to this is, "It's automatic."] | PhotoPost Classifieds can automatically use the vbulletin stylesheet when you use the vb3 enhanced integratration as we do auto replace our stylesheet variables with those of vb3's style. Only thing to consider if you are using custom stylesheets with custom paths you may need to when using gradient images etc in the vbulletin style admin of the style change the relative path to the files directories to full url so the images can be found over Photopost.
Our auto url rewrite code auto rewrites all the normal vb relative urls so it would only be custom image paths you need to change to the full url. Quote: |

You may per category define up to 6 extra fields to have users input more information that you may want to collect and this information will be shown when viewing the ads. Quote: |

Provided that is if your dealing with a numeric field like asking price that the data still being entered in the field is numeric.

It's all a bit over my head, technically, but it 'sounds' like with a capable technician, I can have the changes I need.
Thanks!
<---See my profile addition? There needs to be a choice of "NONE". To call myself a 'beginner' is a gross overstatement. I have no technical background. I'm a webmaster who hires tech people to make my 'visions' work...(I don't even know what php stands for.)

One more question, and then I think I'm done...
Within PhotoPost Classifieds, can individual categories be set to function differently?
By that I mean...
Can one category (and subcategories) be set to function as my podcast directory
While another category (and subcategories) be set to function as a 'personals/matchmaking' section
While yet a 3rd category (and subcategories) be set to function as a standard 'classifieds' section?
Or...would I have to buy 3 individual PPC licences to accomplish that?

One license would do all that although we would love to sell you many licenses.
Basically Photopost Classifieds comes with 4 template types
- For Sale
- Wanted
- Help Wanted
- Personals
You can assign categories you create to different template types to achieve different sections.
Now the XML playlist thing I showed you in ReviewPost which you can easily use with Classifieds Instead works by defining an extra field in the category editor say called Feed Url. The player will load if $extra1 is not empty so as long as you do not use Extra1 on any other template types you will be fine.

Actually one more question...
Let's say I have the following different categories:
Personals
Podcasts
Classifieds
Can I have all of the following displayed on forum home (each in it's own section)? (ie I have a column of boxes along the left side of my forum, and each box would have a different 'random' item.)
Random Personal ad
Random Podcast
Random Classified ad

Okay this could get greekish here
Photopost Classifieds comes with an external script inc_ads.php which displays either the most recent, random or most popular ads and can be included on your forumhome template. This is included in our software by default.
If you want to have 3 separate ad blocks each pulling different ads from specific categories showing in 3 separate ad blocks then you would need to have someone design those for you since it would not be native functionality in the code.

Correct?

I would need individual 'random' items. 3 of my sites using PPC will have at least 2 categories and I don't want the categories 'mixed' on the Random display.
Is this a customization you can do? Or would I be better off getting additional PPC's for those sites? ETA
Nevermind about the 'random' issue. I've resolved this problem.
