PhotoPost PHP Pro or PhotoPost vBGallery? Which one to choose for vB 3.5.x?

Hello,
I've been thinking several months ago to buy PhotoPost for my site running vB 3.5.x. Now I finally decided to buy it, when I encountered a confusion on which version should I buy. It seems that PhotoPost PHP Pro and PhotoPost vBGallery are two different packages. So which of the two integrates better with vB 3.5.x? Which one has more support/updates? What are the feature different between the two packages? What would be the wisest choice for vB 3.5.x? Go with PhotoPost PHP Pro or PhotoPost vBGallery?

Thanks!

Reading the "Similar Threads" at the bottom of this thread I found the answer to my main question. It seems that vBGallery integrates better with vB since is more like a plug-in to vB and PhotoPost Pro is a full package that can be use standalone or integrated with vB and other forums. Other than that, what features does PhotoPost Pro has that vBGallery don't? And vice versa. Since I need this Gallery to integrate smoothly with my board, I think PhotoPost vBGallery would be the best option. Does anyone want to comment on this?

Thanks!

Well there are tons of features photopost has over vbgallery. vbgallery can only obtain this functionality right now through 3rd party hacks on some of the following things.

1. Multimedia Played Inline
2. Photo Blocks on the Forum
3. Categories List on the Forum
4. Gallery Specific Moderator assignments to moderate comments and photos
5. Upload to Optional Additional Categories on upload showing picture across multiple categories.

There are tons more options Photopost has by default over vBgallery since it is only an addon here is a thread on PhotoPost Features and there are more to come as that thread still needs to be updated at the last 9 months new feature additions.

Comprehensive Review of PhotoPost Options

Thanks...

So its clear that PhotoPost has several more features than vBGallery. vBGallery is more like an extension to vB specific for enabling gallery in vB.

I want to give the users a way to edit their vB profile, have a friends network and upload their photos (much like MySpace does). So I was considering PhotoPost in conjunction with these vB hacks: A Better Profile, vBFriends and Rewrite of UserCP.

I also need that the Galley application is well embedded with my vB board. I don't want the need to modify the templates in more than one place. I also want to create special groups where users can get more access to more server space / pictures allowed and use vB own user groups and billing APIs for subscribing to those groups.

Thats just about what I have in mind. After explaining more specific what I need, which of the two packages would be the best choice to accomplish what I need?

Thanks!

Well if your looking to administer everything in one place like templates etc then you want vBGallery. Can not comment on your hacks you linked since I am not familiar with them.

From what I am understanding, vBGallery will eventually be merged with Photopost, and Photopost can also stand alone if need be, so you may be better off to go with Photopost.

That's weird A Better Profile thread is no longer working. In summary "A Better Profile" was some templates modifications to look more like a friends network and buddys and galleries in it.

And in terms of features... will vBGallery add new features currently available on PhotoPost Pro?

I pretty much like what PhotoPosts Pro offers... and money is not a problem here. I don't mind paying $130 or $60. I just want to make the right choice for what I need... so later on I don't regret what I did.

vBGallery will as time goes on gain new features for sure but will never match up to the level of features on PhotoPost Pro. One of the reasons for the big difference in price.

vBGallery is an addon for Vbulletin whereas PhotoPost is a full featured gallery capable of running alone or integrated with 16 different forums.

- With a little code either gallery can show images on the profile or any part of vBulletin.

I talk @ HR3rdGen (coder of "A Better Profile") all the time on IM.
- Also a member here @ photopost.

Some type of dispute and many words of anger. - anyhoo he pulled his hacks from vb.org ...... He is M.I.A.

Now and then he sends me a message. I'll yell @ him and see whats up.

I own vBGallery and am very happy with it, well integrated into vbulletin especially the style looks the same with your forum without any changes.
And the features so far are a lot.

Thanks to everyone that have replied. I'm more tempted to buy PhotoPost for its more features and since its the main product, there is more chances that it will have more updates than the other (that just my guess).

In terms of the installation and those first procedures to integrate PhotoPost and vB3.5, let say for example that I want to integrate the exact colors of my board (StyleSheet), users/db, the icons/smiles, header/footer/navbar, and the WYSIWYG editor. Can that be done easily? Like for example, a default option to integrate to vB3.5? If it can integrate that things in a easy way... I buy PhotoPost right away.... That's the thing I care most.... painless integration with my live vB 3.5 board.

I forgot a question. Does PhotoPost integrates also with vB usergroups? Like for example I want to limit the "Registered Users (default)" to only 5MB upload, but want to create an extra usergroup in vB (which users subscribe to) that allows them to upload 25MB. Can I do that with PhotoPost?
