vBGallery v Photopost Pro Comparison

I know it's been asked many times before, but any idea when the comparison between the two will be released? I've got vBGallery and it's very good, but wondering if my next purchase should be vBGallery or Photopost. From a vBulletin persepective, anyone got both and can say which is the best buy considering the difference in price, hacks, third-party support (like cmps, vbPortal, VBSEO etc).

If there's not a comparison yet or soon, anyone fancy help making one? I'll be happy to host it on a domain via a CMS so people can add info and vote etc and we could even add in comparisons with the other gallery apps.

Stuart

Hi

I have been using vba-photopost gallery for 1 year and a half but recently I have problem with it and I just bougt photopost pro this week
(look at this:

My feelings to photopost!)

As I said in the thread above. Photopost is much better than vba-photopost-gallery in function. But, it is a little harder for you to install photopost pro than install vba-photopost gallery.

I do not use VBSEO so I do not know about it but photopost pro work well with vbportal. I like its zip upload function and its control panel is also better than VBA. And one more thing is that you can install photopost and vbulletin in different databases.

The reason why I bought photopost pro is that I want to play with two and I feel that the support for VBA here is not as good as it was in VBA home page!(I have problem with it but noone can solve it yet).

There is one more thread a bout this comparision in this forum. You should take a look at this by searching.

Best Regards

Photopost Gallery - formerly VBA is a very good program. It works well and intergrates great into vBulletin. It uses vB's template system.

Photopost takes a little more time to intergrate but once done does a BEAutiful job of it. This uses its own style system, unless you instruct it to use vB's CSS and such.

Photopost is more powerful than the Photopost Gallery though. I personally bought the Gallery and use vBSEO with it as well. Depending on your needs...I would use Photopost Gallery if you just need image support. If you might need media such as video files, go with PhotoPost.

Hope this helps.

One more thing: Photopost pro and photopost vba have different language files. VBa has a language file which you can edit online like vbulletin. But, photopost pro has a language file is the same as phpnuke or postnuke. When you want to edit it the have to download the file in to your computer and do it and upload again.

I do beleive TheComputerGuy is referring to the fact that inline multimedia play of files etc is native in Photopost and in vBGallery it is a hack or addon not part of the product.

both the products are outstanding, work well as a photo gallery.
VBGallery requires vbulletin to be installed in order to function, weras you can use photopost pro as a standalone gallery too

Well I've now got both and I have to say that vBGallery wins hands down.

vBGallery is a lot easier to install, control panel actually integrates with vB, the administration is a lot more logical etc. I've been playing with Photopost for a few weeks and it just isn't as smooth as vBGallery...now I can see why photopost wanted get their hands on it.

If you need a standalone gallery, then Photopost is the obvious choice, but if want something that's integrated with vBulletin, stick with vBGallery.
