Classifieds Q's

I want to runthe classifieds progfram as a standalone.

-Is there a demo site to tregister and post to?
-Can detailed info be required from the registrant at time of the registration? IE: address, telephone number?
-I had previously run a popular free classifieds site but took it offline after the nigerian check scammer responses began to plague every poster to the site. Is there something that can be used with this program to help gaurd against these nuisance people?

Thank you.

Hello

Here is a demo right on our site you can post to

http://www.photopost.com/classifieds/

Normal information is collected on our registration process like username password bio website etc as seen in most forums. Now adding in address phone number etc would require modification of the script.

No site is free of email spammers if you have site emails displayed however in our program the user emails are not shown to people we have a contact us box that a user uses to contact a seller about an ad which should limit this.

Thanks, I took a look at the demo. When posting an ad, first it asks for you to choose a type of ad. If I chose Wanted or Help Wanted, I reach a dead end an can not proceed. Am I doing something wrong, or what?

Do you guys do script modifications?

When I click on the Contact Seller link in an ad, my email address is pre-entered into a field that I can change. I would like it so that responders can not change their email address. I am not sure why you give people that option.... seems to open up the script for some abuse. Can you give the rational for that? Why not just make it so it automatically pulls my email from my profile, since I have to be logged in to contact the seller anyway.

Thanks for your time.

Nope they just have those types marked as active and no categories set to use that type

Of course it can be changed and there is no way to abuse anything as its not like a porn bot can every get a true user email unlike sites that display users emails address which we do not.. If a non-registered user hits contact link there is not email addy filled in. If a registered user hits the link we simply fill in the email addy for them from there profile as a courtesy.

By abuse I meant that the person replying can change the email to something like "eatme@yomamashouse.com" and his message gets passed to the poster "anonymously". I tried that, and unfortunately that is what happens... the poster receives a possibly harrassing email of unknown origin.

Anyway, how do I go about obtaining a quote for some modifications I would need before I decide to purchase?

Thanks again.

I noticed that despite entering key words when posting an ad, it seems to default to the ad title as the keywords?

Well you can send email to the email on file for my signature

Yes I hear what your saying but porn bots and such usually can not interact with a specific script. They usually scan sites for emails and then forward them to a program that sends these harrassing emails.

You can always hide the contact us box for use only to registered members
