Confused about photopost/vbgallery

I have a vbulletin board at www.myboard.com (example only)

And i want a gallery at (www.gallery.com)

Those two sites are at two different servers.

So my question is should I get photopost og vbgalllery?

And is it possible to use the same user database???

If you want to run one site thats a forums and another site as a gallery then I suggest photopost

vBGallery - Gallery addon for vBulletin.
Photopost - A Stand alone Gallery that can also be intergrated into many forum software.

Hope that gives you a bit better understanding.

ok that makes sense....
my biggest concern is how I get those two sites to use the same user database.... :-/
Would it need code modification, or is there settings that allow me to pick a vb database as user storage?

I think the code to do this is already in the photopost.. BUT!
Please wait till a Photopost support member can answer your question with a 100%. I'm just a user.

Well we are certainly not up at 5:52am

Okay vBGallery is a sleek gallery integrated with vbulletin. It does not have all the features of PhotoPost however it is essentially an addon to Vbulletin and will not work without it. The admin panel is in vbulletin admin and the templates phrases etc are all in vb.

Photopost integrates with VB as well with login and css however the admin section is separate meaning photopost has its own admin. We use alot of the same integration features as VBGallery for look and feel but PhotoPost is a much more mature program and loads more features.

Basically you just need to decide which one is right for you. Here is a PhotoPost integrated with Vbulletin

Well you definately can not get vbgallery in that situation as it has to be on the same server.

Now you can use Photopost and have it authenticate the vbulletin user so a user can login.

Now couple things to note. You can not load the vb3 header etc since vbulletin is on another server. Also users when they go to your gallery will need to login again since cookies do not work with separate domains.

Send a message via Yahoo to glowinggal
so this IS possible - just more of an inconvenience though for the users? No way to link the db over another server?

You can only use Photopost on another server as long as the vb database allows external mysql connections on the primary server. vBgallery must be on the same server as vbulletin.
