| performance of vBadvanced Gallery with lots of images
Hello,
which are the biggest sites running vba gallery? I am investigating in moving a 150K images installation to vba - with our current software we seem to have performance problems - page generation takes very long, mainly caused by long running sql statements. Any experience?

Dontom,
If you search around for "trackpads" I believe that to date his site is the largest so far that has switched from a different product to vBa Gallery. At last count he was up around 220K images.

Are you saying that the two galleries have the same features enabled and one has better performance than the other?

He's asking how vBa Gallery performs with a large number of images because his current software isn't cutting it.

Thanks. I wonder what the performance of both applcations would be if configured the same. Apples to apples and all that.

Hard to tell when you don't know what program he's running. Unless you know something we don't. | |

I was just looking for benchmark information when I came across this post; it doesn't matter which application is being used.
I have a very active website with alot of users and am hesitant to add anything to it without understanding the effect on my server.

Thanks for the feedback - very interesting
I will try a test migration and do some apache benchmarks against each other with a comparable featureset turned on. Is a trackpads admin member here? I would like to ask some questions...

Dontom: Trackpads is not part of the staff; you could try reaching him via PM or in the Chit Chat forum.
BlahBlah: Depending upon the application it may matter. Knowing the other package would allow people then to answer questions such as "Are the images in the filesystem or DB? Are there features in one application but not the other and is that leading to the additional/slow queries? Were any hacks done to either application? Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera."
