How do updates work?

Maybe this is posted in a painfully obvious place, but I haven't seen it

Say I purchased the gallery today, do I get the 3.5 upgrade when it comes out, or do I have to pay another 60 dollars?

You get updates for 1 year from the time of your purchase. Then you can renew for another year for about $20.

Ohh okay, cool. So it's basically the same deal as a vBulletin liscence.
