OK two main questions:

a) does vbag have a feature where you can show 'featured photos' on the homepage, a bit like at the bottom of http://www.viperalley.com/ubbthreads.php

b) does the vba group plan on releasing software similar to reviewpost?

A). Currently, no. There's a good chance that will be an option in a future version though.
B). Currently there are no plans.

a) is one the more appealing features to me, I would hope vbag could bring this out rather soon, then I may well go ahead and purchase it.

Well I can tell you it would probably be about a month or so at least before the next version is released with major new features. Right now we are working on getting 1.0.0 finished to correct all known bugs. With vB 3.5 right around the corner, our next goal will be to get a new version released that works with 3.5, then we will concentrate on adding more new features.
