Can't upload small gif (first test)

I'm looking at vbadvanced to replace a photopost installation.

Anyway I tried uploading a little gif to the demo using the quick upload thing on this page

I picked the file at random. It has a couple spaces in the filename:
2168 Jin Pliers.gif

It's a simple gif of about 3.6K that measures 200x62 pixels and it took about 35 seconds to return a blank page here

Can you tell me what the problem might be? Filename, thumbnail size, Server issue?

P.S. I took the spaces out of the filename and the upload is still crashing to that blank page. I can't upload the gif here in the forum, sorry. I was able to upload a couple larger files though but this one crashes every time.

Interesting photopost wouldn't take it either. But PP didn't choke - it came back with this message right away:

The file you uploaded was not an acceptable format.: 2168JinPliers.gif

I don't mind if it errors out, but hang and pfft! doesn't quite cut it.

HHHmm.... very weird. Assuming that Brian doesn't pop in with an answer I'll play around with it tonight on my own site so I can see what the deal is. My first inclination is that PHP isn't properly recognizing it as a GIF file since the file header identifies it as a GIF-87A whereas most modern programs create a GIF-89A format.

... or I may be totally wrong. Looks like GIF files of any type should be grouped together as a numerical type 1. Will need to look further.

I would rather buy a vbGallery license for $59 than a $39 photopost renewal.

It doesn't give me any probelms at all on RC4 on my localhost. I'll be sure to test it on here too though once I get RC4 uploaded.
