I am looking to start a photo hosting service. Is there a user limit or sql database query limit to this software. What about users at the same time? Also, can my users give short urlīs to their galleries?

Thanks

There is no query limit - not sure what you mean by that; just as there is no user limit. I've had hundreds of users on my galleries at times with no problems.

When you say short URLs, do you mean like "member.mygallery.com"? That can be done with a combination of htaccess files and/or a php script if you have wildcard dns enabled on your server, but because it requires a specific set of conditions it isnt something that can be done on all servers. We don't support this ourselves, but I know some users are doing this on their setups.

what I mean

I mean, kind of how coppermine supports giving each member a url like

http://www.mygallery.com/?membername

so they can post their link in AIM or emails or whatever.

We don't do that specifcally for members - we use that format for photo ids; but I'm sure it would be an easy modification. The only problem you will run into are usernames which contain spaces or special characters which do not translate into proper URLs.
