| Considering Buying...A Few Questions.
Hello,
I'm considering purchasing reviewpost w/ photos for my site. Are all of the requirements that are listed on the following page referring to my web server? http://www.reviewpost.com/requirephp.html
What are the requirements for my computer, if any? I am on a Mac and sometimes I cannot use certain scripts/software to their fullest capacity because they are not fine-tuned for Macs. I doubt that this would be a problem, but I am just checking.
Also, any requirements for browsers?
One more thing...I'm interested in adding Photos to the ReviewPost. Can the photos on the pages be linked to a url?
Thanks,
Carolyn

1- the requirements are for the host you will use, and yes, usually they are basics...
2- i'm also fully on Mac, and the line of PP softwares is absolutly compatible with your system if you installed PHP properly with ImageMagick... the best place for these is: http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/welcome.html
3- no requirements for browsers...
4- changing the url from an image to redirect somewhere else can be handled with a hack(modification) but is not actually built-in... (you can always ask)
good luck Carolyn!

If it's on my computer, why do I need this since the software runs on my server?
Thanks.

when you install a software for your website, it's on the Server that you need the software to be installed. the link i provided is for the "if" situation where your server is located on a Mac Server...
and you can select to have the GD library managing images instead of ImageMagick, but with GD, your users will not be able to manipulate the images they upload on your site...

So that test file thing to run on your computer that review post has on the requirement page...that is just to see if my server has what is required? Can't I just look at my web host package to see if I have what is required? Is it necessary to run that thing?
Thanks,
Carolyn

The test file is when you're not sure, as it is suggested...
but it's not to be run on your computer, it is to be run on your server...
if you really need imagemagick, you need its "path", a detail that is not always told in the package descriptions.. you may have to ask your webhost support guys to tell you the exact path if your script does not detect it automatically.... btw, if you don't care about imagemagick, just forget that part! .. GD library is automatic, compared to IM.

Looks fine, I'd ask if they have Safe Mode disabled; you'll need that so that PhotoPost can dynamically create user directories, etc.
