View Full Version : Gallery navbar link gone
October 1st, 2013, 03:09 PM
Photopost is working great on my default template but when I change to another template the navbar link called gallery is not there. Of course if I revert back to the default template it is still there.
I need to change templates but need to have the gallery navbar link.
How can I get the gallery link on the nav bar of the new template.

well is your other style navbar template hacked or modified as its called?
I know vb4 is finicky when it comes to modifying there files if you hack the navbar you can break the display of navigation links from the navigation manager with the only ones showing being the regular forum links.
Of course I need more info to more accurately answer though.

You can send me information about your site through the contact us link and I can give you a more accurate answer and be able to assist with this issue. Have not seen a reply in 3 days so just checking back to see if this is still a problem for you.

Chuck to answer your qhe current navbar on the working template is not a hacked navbar link. It was created when I installed photopost software.
The new template does not have a hacked navbar either and I assumed that once photopost was installed it would translate to a newly created template.
I sent the link to my forum to you in the contact us. You willnot be able to see the newly created template because I have not published it for my members.

What I am saying is that I have seen where members have a modified navbar template then new menu items in the vb navigation manager may not show until the navbar is reverted to the stock one released in the vb 4.2 series.
You would need to send me proper logins etc so that I can see the issue if I am to comment on it. I am not sure what vb version your using as your copyright for the forum is removed. In vb prior to vb 4.2 series the navbar link is a plugin. In 4.2 and 4.21 tabs are added from the vb navigation manager and this is what my comment above is on. Anytime I have seen someone who's navbar template is not the vb 4.2 standard navbar it breaks the vb navigation system so that the only links shown are the normal forum ones not ones added.

You have not installed the photopost xml plugins for vbulletin. I would suggest you upgrade your gallery and follow the instructions to install the vb xml plugins.
I looked at your site and there are no photopost plugins installed and no gallery links in the navigation manager so you must be doing some custom coding or something in your default style to add the links you have.

So not sure how you came to this conclusion as the gallery is working and the navbar link is there on only one template. This happened after I installed the product and uploaded the XML file as directed in the install directions, then created a new template.
So I tried to upload the photopost folder again to re-install as suggested. This just crashed the working gallery and was in accessible until I re-verted my server image. So re-installing does work. get this product to work should not be this difficult

I came to that conclusion very easily because there are absolutely no links in your vb navigation manager for the gallery. You can look yourself. You must upgrade your gallery to support vBulletin 4.2x.
You do not reinstall. You should download 8.41 and follow the upgrade instructions in the documentations folder of the download. It is not hard at all to upgrade provided you follow the instructions. This product is however alot harder to upgrade than most since you need to integrate with 25 different products and as such lots of things to encounter and set correctly new variables etc. Like upgrading to 8.41 you are going to need to either edit new config files with your proper info or add missing config variables to your old config files. Otherwise upgrading is simply uploading the files and running an upgrade script.
If you encountered a blank white page when uploading the xml this is simple. I would suspect that the xml files where not set to 777 permissions as noted in the documentation and you tried installing a blank xml not configured for your site. It is a common mistake when not following the upgrade documentation.
You would need to give me more info than it just crashed for a more precise like if your crashed your gallery it could be as simple as you overwrote your config files or if you uploaded the new 8.41 you did run the upgrade. There are many different things that can go wrong.
IMPORTANT - DO NOT SKIP
. Backup your database before doing this upgrade.
. Ensure you upload all the directories which have files that need to be uploaded to the main PhotoPost directory.
1) Download and unzip the latest build from the Members Area.
2) Upload all files - except config-inc.php unless you modified them from the ZIP file - to
your server. You also do not need to upload header.htm or footer.htm if you modified those as well.
If you are upgraded your forum to vbulletin 5 and upgrading Photopost as well to support vbulletin 5 please read below the vb5 note.
If you are upgrading from a version before 8.3 release you will need to replace your config-inc.php and config-int.php files with ones you edited with your information or add variables that where added to the config in 8.3 before you continue.
3) Run http://www.yoursite.com/gallery/install/upgrade.php and depending on your version, run any necessary upgrades.
4) When done with upgrades, remove the upgrade.php file.
5. For SEO rename the HTACCESS file to .htaccess
6) You are done!
IMPORTANT - FOR XENFORO CUSTOMERS ONLY.
1. Upload the library directory from our install directory to your xenforo directory it contains necessary files for the addon code.
Make sure to set all xml files in the install directory to 777
2. Go to your admin panel ( http://www.yoursite.com/classifieds/adm-index.php ) and select the generate xml plugin link to generate your xenforo plugin which adds the navigation.
3. Install that generated product-xenforo.xml file to your xenforo under install addons.
4. You may not delete the install directory as per the main direction point number 5.
Please read the CHANGELOG.TXT FILE so you know what to expect from version upgrades.
IMPORTANT - FOR VBULLETIN 4 ONLY. New plugins included in download.
In the install directory set permissions on the file product_pppro.xml, source-vb4.xml and source-vb42.xml files to 777
2. Go to your photopost admin panel ( http://www.yoursite.com/gallery/adm-index.php )and hit the option to generate vbulletin plugin xml. That file will download to your computer.
3. Go into your vbulletin admin panel and under plugins & products select the option to manage products. You can then use the add/import product option
and upload the xml file you downloaded to your computer called product_pppro.xml file. Once that is done your forum will show gallery content.
4. Thats it your done!!
IMPORTANT - FOR VBULLETIN 5 ONLY.
1. You can do either one of the options above after uploading all the files noted above in the normal upgrade procedure.
Edit your config-int.php file on your server and add the line below right above the define for VB3_INTEGRATION
Edit the new config-int.php file in the downloaded code with all the proper server paths urls etc and upload it to your server.
2. Copy the pp.php file from the install directory into your vBulletin forums root directory ( This is the root directory not any subdirectories ).
3. Make a copy your vb config.php file from vbulletin install and place that copy into your photopost directory.
You must edit this config.php file you put in your photopost directory as it uses this to get the forum path.
$config['core_path'] = realpath(dirname(__FILE__)) . '/core';
You need to change it to something like this which has the actual correct path to your forums core directory.
$config['core_path'] = '/var/www/yoursite/path/to/vbulletin/core';
Save your changes!
Please read the CHANGELOG.TXT FILE so you know what to expect from version upgrades.

Now see you will want to upgrade your gallery if you want but I tweaked the 8.41 xml with your info and look how the navbar displays properly. ;)
