View Full Version : Layout, colors and everything wonky after upgrade
September 6th, 2013, 01:42 PM
Hello, I'm trying to upgrade from 8.03 to 8.4. Last night I uploaded everything, aside from the config files, and ran the upgrade script. After it made changes, and did this and that via upgrade.php, I logged in and all of our colors, layout and everything was lost.
After I played with it for a bit, I decided to just re-upload the backup of our PP and everything went back to normal as it's supposed to look and as it was prior to attempting to upgrade. Is there something that I need to save that I'm overlooking so it will keep our current visual styles in tact so the colors and everything will match our forums?

I would suspect you did not follow the upgrade documentation in the documentations folder. For instance if this is a vBulletin integrated install and you have not installed the xml plugins we talk about in the docs then there is no style because you have not installed the plugins. Without you providing information about your site so we can see where you are all I can do is guess. ;)

I generated the xml file after upgrading and uploaded it to vbulletin plugins. I'll have to do it again tonight and try again and leave everything as is after install so you can see.
Totally understand the "we can't see it, so we don't know what's wrong". I just wasn't sure if there was something that the new files were overwriting when uploading the newest version that was causing the issue. Like I said, I'll do it again tonight and see what happens. If it doesn't follow suit I'll leave it as is and we can go from there. Thanks.

A community photo gallery - ReefTalk Gallery (http://www.reeftalk.com/gallery)
Yep we would have to see it because I can easily show you examples of all our products integrated with vBulletin 4 or Xenforo as those are the only two products we support enhanced integration and have xml files for. vBulletin example is above I assume this is what we are discussing here.
Just make sure when you upgrade tonight read the upgrade doc you will see you have things to add to old config files as well as clear instructions on how to generate the xml plugins. If you follow the instructions there should not be any issues. The xml plugins have the style matching used so that there is style in the gallery. It is a template called photopost.css ;)

Ok, so here we are.
This is after upgrade. I double checked that I changed everything properly and again, same issue. Everything is black where previously, everything matched our colors and whatnot at
I changed permissions on product_pppro.xml, source-vb4.xml and source-vb42.xml to 777, generated the XML and imported it, using the upgrade option, and that should be it. Going to look at the gallery, we see what I linked above.
Looking at the admin section of photopost, it's showing version 8.41. I'm just not sure why it lost the layout and everything we had before. I see the photopost.css when I search for the style so it's there, is it not getting applied or something?

Check out your config information and edit integration settings. Your setting to use the forum style but you have not set the edit configuration options to use the vb header footer. Hense right now you have a standalone photopost yet your setting to use the forumstyle hense your in limbo.
I think you will find after you set the stuff in edit integration in admin to use the vb header footer things will look alot different.

Gotcha. Had to add cookie salt in the config, then got db errors. Disabled Xenforo and vB5 in integration and we're good to go.
Thanks much for the help.
