If I change the "Use Spider-friendly URLs?" to "SEO" then the older product links no longer work.

You would definately need to explain what you mean because normal links are converted to SEO urls.
uploads - My Product Gallery (http://www.omegatron.net/products/a-category/p1-test-uploads.html)
uploads - My Product Gallery (http://www.omegatron.net/products/showproduct.php?product=1&title=test-uploads&cat=2)
uploads - My Product Gallery (http://www.omegatron.net/products/showproduct.php/product/1/title/test-uploads/cat/2)
You can clearly see I have things set to SEO and I have posted all 3 url formats in the program the links all work and convert automatically to SEO.

I simply changed to "SEO".
Take a look: Main Index - SirStevesGuide.com Reviews (http://reviews.sirstevesguide.com/)
I will have to change it back soon.

I can not respond without seeing your issue but I can assure you my example is our latest code for sure. The SEO has not changed since day one we added it to the applications.

Thats easy. I thought you where trying to say old style urls do not work. What your issue is SEO urls do not work. Most likely because the HTACCESS file has not been renamed to .htaccess.
Try that and see where you get. ;)
