View Full Version : User Disappeared
August 7th, 2013, 12:05 PM
A user cannot get into his account. The system does not recognize his username so he cannot generate a new password. However, upon searching for his username name, it appears with all his photos.
I cannot find his username in "Edit Users" either. Yet, I know it exists.
How can this be?
How can I fix it?

well if you can not find the user that would be strange.
What is the site is it a standalone?
You as admin should be able to edit his profile and he should also.
I definately would need more info.

I find no user who has uploaded content to your site with the name kudzu

If the user does not exist then there is no way for him to reset a password on a user that does not exist.
You say you can not find him either tell me where is this user with all his photos he definately does not exist from my search on your site.
This seems to be the heart of your issue here. Your saying he exists yet your site says he does not exist and your site is backing that up since there is no kudzu user.

He was able to find kudzu in a search and so was I. If the mobile version would work on my phone, I'd send a url. I'll try to do so in a little while.

Notice the username is never presented on any of those urls. Just a space. I am unable to edit the user because he is not found by the "Edit User" link on the admin screen.
He is proven to be a user since his photos are present.

Bdub if you can not edit the user or reset the user password with the links I presented you then my best guess is you accidently deleted this user when cleaning out old users etc. That would be my best guess since users do not simply disappear.

That is a possibility, as I cleaned out hudreds of spammers and phishers several months ago. However, I would've thought that deleting a user would have also deleted his photos.
Is there a way to reinstate the user Kudzu, uid=13383, with ownership of all his prior photos and albums? Perhaps within the database with phpmysqladmin?

Well if you deleted him via the correct delete all a users photos link under the user profile as admin sure that would have deleted all his content.
If you deleted him some other way then no ;)
You could use phpmyadmin and insert a record into the pp_users table with that specific userid username and the email the user wants to use and he should be able to reset his password.
But at least we know the issue is because you deleted the user he does not exist hense there is no password to reset or no user to really be found.

I'll hopefully be able to work on it tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks for being my safety net. :)
