View Full Version : How do I find out if an image can be recovered

I would like some basic information here about what to do when an image goes missing from the Show Photo page. I still have the thumbnail, but no big image. If I go into the database there is still an entry there for the photo but I don't know how to find out if it can be recovered.
Can you tell me whether there is anything I can do, please?

If the image is not on disk and you do not have a backup of the actual image then that image is correct and you can not recover it. Thumbnails and mediums can be rebuilt from the main/large image but if that image is missing the only way to recover is to restore it from a backup you have either by uploading it to its place on the server or editing the photo and selecting the file to upload from computer to reprocess the selection.

Where are the actual image files stored? I see images files in the folders, but I can't find all of them by searching for a word. Where does the large image get stored when it is uploaded?

The main image is stored in the actual data directory under the category id. If your missing an image you can right click the missing image x and view the actual url location. Your location would depend on the missing image.
Example of how we store the main images
