View Full Version : Smilies not working

The smilies are not working.
I have been running VBG for a long time and I never noticed this until a user recently pointed it out.
I have to go to "Go Advanced" posting option for them to show up to the right of the message box.
However when I click the smiley that I want to use it will not enter into the message box.
When I manually type the smiley into the box it still will not display.
How do I get these working?

I will see if I can setup a test copy and see what I see but this product line since the release of vBulletin 5 essentially makes it EOL. There will be no further development on vbGallery. We will post an official announcement when we yank the product in its entirety from the download area but anybody who has posted about the product I have urged they need to switch to Pro which especially when comparing to vbGallery for vB4 is far superior and actively developed. In the past 6 months alot of vbGallery customers have begun the switch to Pro.

Wow, that is a shocker. After all these years of using VBG and building my gallery online images to the current total of 50,396 images you are going to discontinue development of VBG, that really sucks. That is a big disappointment. Are you going to design a script to convert it to Pro for all of us users that use VBG? What am I supposed to do with the 50,396 photos I have in my gallery now that will no longer be supporting VBG? Are you going to let someone else continue developing VBG for us to continue to use it since you are giving up on it?
Needless to say I have put over 10 years of work into my online forums and galleries to make my web sites as successful as that are now. And to have something like this happen is a very big disappointment. I hope you will let someone else pick up and take over the product and not take them to court if they decide to so in the future? Is that possible?

This really is not a shocker or something out of the blue. There has been no development of vbGallery for 3 years other than a 2 minor dot release to support the navigation manager addition and some minor things. vbGallery 3.0 for vb4 was released in in 2010. The writing has been on the wall for along time. It has just been since the release of vb5 that I have been stressing switching to everyone who posts.
Anyone who has purchased a license for PhotoPost Pro can switch to Pro and use the vbGallery to Pro import script to import vbGallery content to Pro. That does not cost you anything and is very easy. You would have to look at your licensing to see what type of licenses you own.
No one else can pick up and take our code and develop it that is how we obtained vbGallery in the first place someone purchased our Pro application and then used that code base to develop a competing gallery product. That was illegal which is why we went to court. It was very much cut and dry and we could have retired vbGallery what seven years ago. Instead we took a very bug ridden 1.0 initial release script where people had been trying to get bugs fixed for 6 months and developed it for years to support many different vbulletin code branches.
It is not fiscally responsible for us as a company to develop 2 different gallery scripts and Pro supports all vb versions very well with tons more features than vbGallery.
I will see if I can see anything to help your smilie issue. I know we have not supported any vb editors since vb 4.10.
