View Full Version : vbulletin and photopost single sign on
May 28th, 2013, 03:48 PM
I just updated my photopost to the newest version which is intergrated with my VB4. One thing that seemed to work before with PP3 but no longer does is once a user logs into the VB4 site they are unable to seamlessly go to my gallery which is run by Photopost. Is there a setting to allow single log on?
Now on my server the VB site is in one folder called forums and then another folder called gallery is Photpost, so the structure is such
Any help here would greatly be appreciated.

PhotoPost 3? Not sure what you mean since PhotoPost 3 has not been a product since 2003 and never existed when vb4 was out. Our photopost version is 8.31
That should explain how you have a workng integrated login as if your applications are installed correctly and cookies set correctly in both applications you should not have an issue.
I would need to see the site to comment further.

Meant to say VB3 not PP. My site was VB3 with PP6 (I think 2008 version) then the site was upgraded to VB4 with PP8.31 now Im having this issue.
Does the PP software (gallery directory) have to be within the forum directory for the single sign on to work.

No not at all. As long as you have followed the upgrade documentation located under the documentations folder of the downloaded code you should be fine.
Basically it is pretty simple for a vb site
1. You upload all the content except the 2 config files
2. There is in the documentation certain fields you want to add to any old config files on older installs that will be missing in yours. You can otherwise as the documentation notes edit the new files config files with your correct information and use them.
3. You would run the upgrade script and go through with that portion.
4. Once done with that as noted in the documentation you would generate the vb4 plugins per the documentation on our upgrade.html file.
If you do all this then all navigation links everything should work. I placed our cookie faq link above also in case you do not have cookies set correctly.
Aside from all this if you want me to comment about your site further I would actually need to see a link and a test login. My site the forum is in a directory called forums and my gallery in a directory called gallery. Makes no difference you need to make sure things are installed to integrate you have the enhanced integration on and cookies set right and the login will be read.

Cookie settings are set as outlined above and as they were from the first PP version. I did follow the upgrade procedure;
Upload and overwrite older files
Update older config files
Add two XML files as plugins first PP3 then PP4
But I was not able to do the VB plugin generation. The documentation said to do it a certain way but I could not find the place in the PP admin area to generate the plugin. So that is not done.
I'll PM you the link but the PP is offline since my uesers will freak that they have to log in again...LOL is anything else you want like a login to the site?

Nevermind on the PM you have a contact I can send a login and password to for the site? One additional item I did not mention. Any user account that accesses the gallery main site has access to modify the pictures and videos in the the admin (my) gallery.
I though this was strange

users should not have access to modify your content as only an admin can have that access.
You can send any site details to the contact us link in our site header a url and admin login would work to poke around and a test user login.
