Just upgraded to 8.3, nice work, thanks. I have an image missing when viewing any photo as seen in the attachment. It is the Image Verification

Thats easy I would suspect your GD2 does not support the stuff to do CAPTCHA so simply turn off captcha in the admin options that will solve that. Either that or you have not uploaded the font file in the images directory so you might want to consider uploading all files except the config files and seeing if that resolves the issue.
Thanks for the compliments. I spent lots of time working on things.

GD2 is installed on our server and I use CAPTCHA on our formmail. All the images are uploaded. Turning off CAPTCHA results in lots of spurious registrations.

You could be using imagemagick for captcha as far as I would know. :)
Did you make sure the TTF file was uploaded it is in the images directory. Remember this feature is not new and has not changed in years.
I would need more info

The TTF file is there. I know this is not a new feature but it has not worked for a while. I hoped the upgrade would have fixed it. From my phpinfo file:
GD Version - bundled (2.0.34 compatible)

The code is right in the from cap.php that generates the image. Your server must not support a GD function that it needs if it has never worked. You did also upload the cap.php file right?
You can compare the code in cap.php to create a watermark image versus the code your using in your formmail maybe that would help you.
From my work with it your GD install must support True Type Fonts.

We are moving to a new server soon so I will see if this starts working.

Bob what I am saying is your saying you have captcha imaging workiing for a form mail thing. I was saying you could compare those two scripts to see whats different. The tutorials on the new are pretty extensive on gd captcha how we generate a gd2 captcha image is pretty standard we just use simply gd2 functions to generate an image based on a pass phrase stored in the captcha table.
