July 12th, 2011, 10:27 AM
Hi, I can't comment in photos and guest also can't do it. it seems there is a bug or something.
Where can I check everything is ok, because I can't comment even as an admin...
The comment box is there, but I can't write in it.
Here is my site (http://www.maclatino.com/gall/).
July 12th, 2011, 10:59 AM
There is no support currently for the ckeditor. That is one thing we are working on in PP8
July 12th, 2011, 01:28 PM
Oh, so science I updated VBulletin all my comments are dead ?
Wow, I hope you guys bring up a fix fast, because we are talking about weeks science that update.
Any date for this ?
July 12th, 2011, 03:11 PM
No the normal post comment link works. You can remove $qcom from your showphoto template to remove the quick reply and users can hit post a comment to comment.
July 12th, 2011, 03:16 PM
Exactly which show photo template ?
The one in the gallery/templates directory ?
The one in the vb4enhanced directory ?
Just 1 $qcom in all the document ?
More $qcoms ?
Any line in specific ?
July 12th, 2011, 05:22 PM
You would go into your admin panel hit edit templates choose showphoto.tmpl and you can remove the $qcom variable at the bottom of the template.
July 12th, 2011, 05:27 PM
I have this at the end of the file.
<!-- END TEMPLATE: showphoto.tmpl -->
So as I have $comq instead of $qcom I am wondering if I have something else bad in another place...
Please let me know how I should have that piece of code.
July 12th, 2011, 07:23 PM
sorry yes little bit dislexia at times LOL $comq
July 13th, 2011, 11:25 AM
Well, after deleting $comq I have no comments at all.
What to do ?
July 13th, 2011, 02:54 PM
The user can hit the post a comment link under the photo options.
July 14th, 2011, 07:38 AM
Well, now I see.
A little tiny menu that you can barely see and it displays options without any text, just little icons that you have to hover to see what they are for and not a single user will use or see.
I really need a fix for this issue to have comments as they are expected.
When will a fix for this issue will be posted ?
VB update was out like 2 months ago, so all PP users have no comments at all until they see it like me, if not, they will have a not working gallery. So this fix is really necessary.
Any date for a fix ?
July 14th, 2011, 08:53 AM
We will support the ckeditor when we have a chance to look into it which we are currently doing. There is no timeline. You can clearly comment on photos. 4.14 came out a couple weeks ago not 2 months ago as I just upgraded my site a couple weeks ago when it came out like the third week of June I beleive. The way vbulletin software is released now beginning with the 4.x series developers do not have time like they use to in the old days to support new things in vb. Thus if vbulletin changes something important you are going to see lags in other companies supporting new vb technology. We simply do not have sufficient time. I mean come on vbulletin changed there who posting interface in a .0x dot release. It was not in 4.13.

VB anouncement May 11. https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php/379107-vBulletin.com-4.1.4-Beta-1
Thats two months and 4 days, not two weeks.
VB anouncement June 11 (final version). https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php/381438-vBulletin-4.1.4-now-available-for-download
Thats one month and 4 days.
As this product relies a lot in VB, I assume you the developers of PP, start using VB 4.1.4 science beta 1 announced in May 11, 2 months and 4 days to now. Thats why I said 2 months in the first time, because its over 2 months now.
Don't you test this science its out so your product don't have problems, like no comments at all ?
I really expect a fix for this like now, not in another 2 months, leaving users with a gallery that no one can comment unless the visitor its a developer and knows to search all the website to see options and then guess what a little icon under a hidden menu means. Then, he can comment.
That makes sense to you ?
So, this needs a fix and needs it quickly, not someday.
Please let us know a date for this, support your product and your customers as expected. Even free software fixes this type of things to have a decent and updated product.
There must be a way to just fix this issue and make comments work. Its an essential part of a gallery, not just a typo or something.
So please give us a date for this and look into a momentary fix that makes things work now instead of planning PP8 for september...

Peter vbulletin 4 is only one of twenty integrations we support. As with any development there can be no set date. We are looking at adding support for the ckeditor and are looking into it the last few weeks. When we support it we will post. The quick fix as you meantioned is what I have posted already. You disable the display of quickreply and use the normal editor which appears to function fine.
Our access to vb beta software is restricted to the same as normal customers now. .0x releases by software companies do not change things normally and we do not openly investigate every single release like that. Our attention has been focused on PP8 development. I have been looking into the quick reply issue since I was initially made aware of the issue 3 weeks ago.
July 14th, 2011, 12:29 PM
You can try this test I have been working with its a basic box working but very very alpha. I can not say it would work but you can try it if you like.
July 14th, 2011, 12:32 PM
Sure thing, thats what I expect !
Just upload it to templates folder ? same name as the download or rename it to something else ?
July 14th, 2011, 03:30 PM
Well Chuck ,this is well very basic.
I'am agreed with Peter that this time the solution for Vbulletin users is longer than usual.
In the past there where little updates when there was comming out a new version of Vbulletin.
I'am honest to you that I on this moment testing a new photogallery which support the new CKeditor, but I love the photogallery and the support what I have get in the past from you
But as Peter say users don't like it when they get errors when they use the gallery.
So I hope that there will be comming a timeline when photopost support the CKeditor.
I think it is not more than fare to let the Vbulletin users know what they can expect.
On this moment there is no support anymore for Vbulletin users which use Vbulletin V.4.1.4or higher.
The CKeditor must use for comments
July 14th, 2011, 04:14 PM
Actually the main comment editor uses the ckeditor without fail. The issue is with the quick reply. The timeframe is no longer than expected with the new internet brands access to code for developers which was greatly cut down with the release of vb4. Remember I had 3 months to support for 3 of our 4 products when vb came out. vbGallery support for vbulletin 4 was not officially released till 9 months after vbulletin 4 was released.
Michael and I can only support new features as time allows. I have provided a rough working quick reply but that is the best we can do until we can work out all the changes with the new editor.
July 14th, 2011, 04:46 PM
Sure thing, thats what I expect !
Just upload it to templates folder ? same name as the download or rename it to something else ?
Can you please let me know what to do with the file ?
July 14th, 2011, 05:17 PM
You would replace your quickcom40 template file in your templates vb4enhanced folder with this one. That should be the only place that file is located in our templates folder.
July 18th, 2011, 10:04 PM
THANKS, chuck. it help for the template.
July 18th, 2011, 11:09 PM
enjoy your evening.
July 28th, 2011, 03:55 PM
Today vBulletin 4.1.5 is out.
Still no update from Photopost for the CKEditor.
I think photopost must removed this note from the homepage:
vBulletin Owners! PhotoPost makes a fantastic add-on!
July 28th, 2011, 08:26 PM
You can use this template should you wish. I have posted patches in multiple threads even this one.
No official release until we release a pp8 beta.
July 29th, 2011, 03:19 PM
Thanks but for me it is important to know when I can expect a release form pp8
I think a lot of Vbulletin users what to know that.
As you know the other photosoftware programms already have update there software for use with CKEditor.
Maybe you don't like it that I push for support but as a license holder I want to know what I can expect.
If it isn't possible to update than ok it no problem but than I know what to do.
Now the only thing I read in the threads is that there is no support for the CKEditor without any date of it will be possible in the future
July 29th, 2011, 04:54 PM
In a support capacity I have placed patched templates for users to patch there issue.
Your more talking product development which happens at a much more slow pace. We will in PP8 issue any final code adjustments that we feel prudent and hope to have a beta open shortly. However just like vbulletin or any company in development no one every states dates as you can not be held to them. Michael and I both have done alot of work with PP8 recently as every template set we have all 4 of them had to be completely rewritten in PP8. I do not make comments on dates as I would not be held to them which is why I do not make them.
With that said and I can not say for sure but I would think maybe a beta out within a week.
October 6th, 2011, 03:22 PM
I just upgrade to PP 7.1 and my comments are not working again, should I upload the same file you attached here or there is a new file for that ?
October 6th, 2011, 04:17 PM
which vb version are you using? To my knowledge 7.1 should work fine with the ckeditor. I am referring to vb 4.x series right.
October 6th, 2011, 04:21 PM
The latear 4.1.7.
Today I upgraded PP to 7.1 and VB to 4.1.7. After the upgrade, everything worked fine, but I checked quick reply because of the problem and there it was, can't reply.
The attached file is included in 7.1 ?
How can I fix it ?
October 6th, 2011, 04:28 PM
The one in 7.1 should work as your not loading the vb quick reply interface at all its a Photopost page. The template link your talking about above is no longer relevant to this discussion as that template is now a 8.0 BETA template my site is using.
You can try the one above it should work also.
October 6th, 2011, 04:40 PM
With 7.0.3 I downloaded the template file you attached and fixed the problem, now with 7.1 comments are broke again.
That's my question.
And yes, I am talking about quick reply in PP 7.1 with VB 4.1.7. That worked in PP 7.0.3.
October 6th, 2011, 06:07 PM
You can use the template thats linked above thats fine
If you say things are still broke I would need more information.
October 7th, 2011, 05:24 AM
I uploaded it and I get a blank page after hitting send. The URL I get in the blank page is site.com/gallery/comments.php
How can I fix this ?
October 7th, 2011, 08:03 AM
HMM try redownloading the build and reupload comments.php
October 8th, 2011, 04:42 AM
Uploading comments.php fixed the problem.
You should add that file to the changed files in this thread (http://www.photopost.com/forum/photopost-announcements/145187-photopost-pro-7-1-released-01-24-11-a.html) to make sure no one else have the problem.
October 8th, 2011, 11:29 AM
LOL Actually 7.1 was released in January 2011 and comments.php did not change till summer when this thread is from when 4.14 was released
At any rate the upgrade instructions in our package have been changed to state to basically upload everything except config files
This is my suggestion to anyone upgrading when dealing with files.
October 8th, 2011, 11:45 AM
I know, but maybe someone else like me, comes to the forum and discover that 7.1 is out, because the announcement in admin says 7.0.3 and then upgrade having problems as a result :)
That happened to me.
Do you recommend me to re upload everything ?
I upgrade just replacing the files the thread says + comments.php.
October 8th, 2011, 12:13 PM
Yeah no one ever seems to read the documentation we place in the downloaded software specifically the upgrade documentation in the documentation folder.
Announcement notes posted here may be an approximate and at the time of that announcement I am sure that that may have been correct. I made sure the downloaded code had the patched comments.php and quickcom40 template so it works with the new vb 4.14 and up.
What I am saying is I always suggest and always have suggested people follow the upgrade instructions in our software which has always read this
2) Upload all files - except config-inc.php, unless you modified it from the ZIP file - to
your server. You do not need install.php for an upgrade.
Michael or I are not perfect those notes your reading are announcements to what is new in a specific version and are not ever meant to be a replacement to following any upgrade or install instructions in the software.
I even took the time to update in Pro 8 that is coming out soon all the documentation because of all the new stuff added.
IMPORTANT - DO NOT SKIP
. Backup your database before doing this upgrade.
. Ensure you upload all the directories which have files that need to be uploaded to the main PhotoPost directory.
0) Download and unzip the latest build from the Members Area.
1) Upload all files - except config-inc.php, config-int.php unless you modified them from the ZIP file - to
your server. You do not need install.php for an upgrade. You also do not need to upload header.htm or footer.htm if you modified those as well.
3) Run upgrade.php and depending on your version, run any necessary upgrades.
4) When done with upgrades, remove the upgrade.php file.
6) You are done!
IMPORTANT - FOR VBULLETIN 4 ONLY. New plugins included in download.
1. Upload the contents of the additional.css in our stylesheets directory into your vbulletin style manager under edit templates the additional.css stylesheet in vb.
2. In your gallery directory set permissions on the file pppro_product.xml to 777
3. Go to your photopost admin panel and hit the option to generate vbulletin plugin xml. That file will download to your computer.
4. Go into your vbulletin admin panel and under plugins & products select the option to manage products. You can then use the add/import product option
and upload the xml file you downloaded to your computer called pppro_product.xml file. Once that is done your forum will show gallery content.
5. Thats it your done!!
Please read the CHANGELOG.TXT FILE so you know what to expect from version upgrades.
