View Full Version : Forum Tab Url Error
February 5th, 2011, 09:42 AM
I have vBulletin Suite 4.1.1 and vbGallery 3.01
I had earlier errors in Gallery section, bur resolved by switching "Always use Forum URL as Base Path" to No.
Today, I have setup the new feature of 4.1.1 to separate Forum and Blog in sub directoies... (website-url/forum and website-url/blog)
I had to switch "Always use Forum URL as Base Path" to Yes.....Resolved by adding the following line to init_startup "Fetch Datastore":
$vbulletin->options['bburl_basepath'] = 0;
In Gallery AdminCP (Header Replacements) and (Navbar and NavTab Replacements) and (Navbar and NavTab Replacements) I have:
Now from inside Gallery section, the Forum Tab points to avery strange url:
By the way, I am unable to post the link to my website, but it is www dot cadmagazine dot net
Any help please?

You can not place directory names under replacements. I beleive baseurl has to be off for vbGallery as I posted in another thread. You can leave it on if you need to but you might want to apply this fix for vbGallery which will be in our next release.

I revert back website to defualt vbulletin directory structure (i.e no forum subdirectory nor blog subdirectory) and set Always use Forum URL as Base Path to no...
I deleted the replacement from VBGallery settings....
I also deleted the additional line from Fetch Datastore
Now Forum tab from within Gallery section points to the right url?
OK let me rephrase my question:
How can I implement the new subdirectories feature of 4.1.1 without having trouble inside Gallery section pointing to wrong URLs?

i just went to your site..
and there the forum tab is just fine..
as you reverted..
Never tried that feature didn't even know it existed..
And a stupid question.. where do you set it?
I'll give it a look.

Ok i checked it...
do the following:
add the $vbulletin->options['bburl_basepath'] = 0; to datastore plugin again.
Set baseurl option to yes
edit your blog and cms directory in Site Name / URL / Contact Details
but leave Forum Component URL empty...
then it should work.
if you need the forum component url, (i.e. you have setup forum to be in a completely different directory) then you have to apply following fix:
if(strpos($vbulletin->options['forumhome'], "http://") === false)
if(strpos($vbulletin->options['forumhome'], "http://") === false AND ($vbulletin->options['forumhome'] != 'forum' AND $vbulletin->options['forumhome'] != 'index'))
( this assumes you have index.php or forum.php as your forum file).
I do not think it is needed as you will usually not have forum in a separate directory...
thats how it works for me.

There are still a few glitches with the logo, this implies a couple of fixes that will be implemented in next release.
We will also add an option the link the logo to cms page.
When will this be released?
We are waiting for vb 4.12 to be released as there might be compatibility issues as they are modifying lots of css stuff... so give us at least a week to check things out.

Thank you, this is OK.
Just want to tell you that the feature of structuring the website was requested from vBulletin long time, and you will find so many users start using it.
In this case, most of users who like the feature will be going to put forum and blog and cms (maybe) in sub directories...

I tried the quick fix, and it worked....However I needed the following to keep it working:
1 - I had to specify directory name in vbGallery Options - Replacement fileds (i.e. forums/member.php NOT ONLY member.php)
2 - I avoided using full url in vBulletin Options - Site Name / URL / Contact Details (forums and blogs NOT www dot yoursite dot com slash forums, etc...)
3 - I avoided changing content.php to index.php in vBulletin Options - Content Management - Site Tab URL
So far so good, but the only broken link that badly needs to be fixed is the website logo link which points to yoursite slash gallery slash forums slash http slash yoursite slash index.php

Any hot fix please? I am going to submit my site map after the new feature and I really need a hot fix....

the problem is, that vbulletin wants to send you back to forumhome. and normally you cannot link your logo to anything else. unless you modify your template.
with the changes in 4.11 our trick to replace the forumhome url with index does not work anymore.
so the best thing to do would be to set in ACP=>vbgallery=>modify layout
the logolink to default link (Like in forums)
this should work, but it will then behave like in forums. (It works for me but I use absolute links)
